Maggie's POV

We left that over-priced shithole of a hotel five minutes after we woke up, I practically had to push (y/n) out of the doors. She huffed a little about wanting to explore Kinpar, I didn't want to slow down so I had to say no. However, once we reached the next town over, Wopi, I decided to pull over the car. Her eyes lit up at the chance to explore a new place, she didn't even bother to ask why I stopped here of all places.

It was because Wopi was known for mass producing guns. Guns, which they sold mostly to the IMC, traitorous bastards! However, I wasn't here to pick a fight. I was here to... shop.

Wopi was a large city, one of the richest in the area thanks to the IMC... I had travelled to Wopi once when I was younger. Uncle Tama dragged us down here for Wally's 16th birthday. He let us pick out a gun each- not that we needed new ones. In my opinion, our run-down mastiffs were more than enough, but it was a good day- one of my favourites.

And now I was back, with (y/n) leading me through the streets. We passed countless soldiers who looked us up and down, they could tell we were new. I tried my best to keep my head down, for her sake, but I couldn't help but snarl at a few of them as they pushed past us.

She ventured into a few shops, she never bought anything, she just browsed and pointed random things out to me. She nipped into a jewellery shop, the sleezy man behind the counter caught one look at her abundance of necklaces and practically pounced on her like a lion. I had to wrap my arm around her shoulders and steer her away before she spent all our money on shiny pieces of gold!

After an hour of me trailing behind her, we reached the gun shop. It was a small brick building wedged between a mechanics and a café. Exactly how I remembered it. (y/n) cocked her head to the side and asked, "Why do we need guns?"

"Hey, I followed you around without complaining while you looked at shit I don't care about." I said with a shrug.

"Oh c'mon, you loved those trinket holders!" She said with a laugh. She had a point, those small glass dishes stole my heart, but I wouldn't admit that. I just chuckled before grabbed her hand and pulling her into the shop.

The man behind the counter was pre-occupied with a woman holding a RE-45 so I just stood in front of an assault rifle rack.

"Which ones do you like the look of?" I asked her, she hummed and placed her free hand on her hip.

"That one." She said, pointing towards a regular flatline. When I pulled my face she asked, "What? Is it bad?"

"Its... hard to manage." I admitted.

"Huh, for you?" She asked.

"No."

"Then why did you pull a face... We are here for you... right?" I didn't answer her, "Maggie!" She said, her voice raised. I shushed her as furrowed her eyebrows, "Why are we here for me?" She asked, "I don't need guns!"

"I know, I know. I just... Better to be safe then sorry?" I said, my tone was off, and I shrugged.

Her mouth fell open and she asked, "Mags, why are we buying guns for me? What are you planning?"

"I forgot to bring some." I admitted, "Soldiers make me antsy! And... you can't shoot for shit, so I was gonna... try and give you another lesson." She didn't speak, she just moved her hand from her hips and ran her finger along the flatline.

"Its pretty..." She muttered, "Is it really that bad?"

"Not as bad as the EVA-8, it might scare you... I'd say go with this." I reached out and grabbed and R-301 from the rack.
