"She just pisses me off." Maggie said in a hushed voice. My eyes fluttered open, but I didn't move, I kept my head against the window. "We should've left her." Me? My mind was moving too slow to comprehend what I was hearing.

"Yeah well..." Walter said, tutting. "Not much we can do now."

"Shove her in a motel." Maggie's voice was getting louder, Walter shushed her and glanced in the rear-view mirror; I quickly closed my eyes.

"That's cruel." Walter whispered, "We did this to her."

"We can't keep hovering over her like this." Maggie whispered back.

"You're the one hovering. I thought you wanted to hover?" Maggie didn't say anything, "Is this because of this morning? Mags just let it go in one ear and out the other. She's scared."

"And?" Maggie spoke, Walter tried to shush her, but she didn't lower her voice, "If she wants me to be inconsiderate, I'll be bloody inconsiderate."

"You're blowing this out of proportion here mate, just chill out."

"Fuck that." She mumbled before resting her head against the window. "I vote we put her in a motel, she won't get in our way and we'll be done in less than a day"

"What if something happens?"

"Like what?"

"Oh, I don't know how about... she fucking dies!" He shouted. I pretended to jump awake, he fully turned his head to look at me. "You alright?" He asked like everything was normal.

"Yup." I said, stretching my back and arms.

"You've been conked out for like... 5 hours." I didn't say anything, he chewed his bottom lip. "We can stop and you can stretch your legs?"

"Im fine." I said, crossing my arms over my chest. Maggie snorted; I resisted the urge to kick the back of her chair. She's a bitch. A complete bitch. Shove me in a motel? I should've stayed at the apartment, if I got killed then she would have to live with it for the rest of her life.

For the final 3 hours, Maggie and Walter nattered away about how they were going to kill this guy... and I was debating on what I was going to do. The motel sounded a lot nicer than the gruesome things they were describing. I didn't think I was at a place in my life where I needed to see someone get dismembered. However, if I sit in the motel... then Maggie would get her way... As if I was going to let that happen.

Walter drove his car along a long dirt road for ages until the we saw a sign saying 'Kemarsh- population 67'. On the other side of the road, was a sign pointing to the right with 'Quarry 1km- Mine entrance 1.5km' Walter sucked his teeth before glancing at Maggie, who told him to keep going. He continued driving until we saw large mountains appear to our right, my mouth hung open as I stared up at them. Walter stopped the car and pulled over to the side.

"We leave the car here?" He asked, Maggie nodded before turning towards me.

"Motel?" She asked, her tone was flat.

"Nope." I said before swinging the car door open. I could see Walter laugh through the glass before stepping out the car. Maggie leaned over and grabbed the duffel bag before exiting and stepping out onto the side of the road.

Walter placed his hands on his hips and stared up at the large mountain that began just a few meters from us. Maggie nudged my shoulder as she walked past me.

"Is this the hill you wanna die on cuz?" She said, I could tell she was annoyed as she began walking up the beaten trail. I wasn't sure where we were going... I just followed Maggie. We made our way through the rocky, orange mountains, making lefts and rights, ups and downs; all in silence.
