Finding Jean Pierre wasn't easy. I hovered around various tables, listening for his name. But he and his friends were quiet. Eventually, I scoped him out. I heard someone announce his name as if he had won a bet. I turned my attention to it. He sat in a rounded booth by the bar, surrounded by his friends and different workers. I wasn't sure which one was Pierre, until I saw Edgar rest his head on a man's shoulder. I felt all the air leave my body.

I hope I wouldn't hurt Edgar by doing this...

Pierre was a fairly nimble guy; he clearly wasn't the muscle of his group. His hair was dyed platinum blonde and sat just below his shoulders. There was nothing soft about his face, his pointed nose, his chin that jutted out. What did Edgar see in him?

I approached the table, careful to not look suspicious. One of the men on the table clocked me before Pierre could and gestured towards me. I walked over to the stocky man who was sat on the edge of the booth. He didn't say anything, he just gripped me with one hand and pushed me down onto his knee. I cringed as his hand wrapped around my waist keeping me in place. Pierre didn't glance in my direction.

The man who was holding me didn't speak a word, not until another game started up again and the cards were dealt. "Hold them for me." He mumbled into my ear, his breath was hot, I hated it. I picked up the cards from the table, he rested his head on my shoulder. I glanced down at his other knee and saw his arm was wrapped in a cast- this is the guy Maggie hurt. I was very confident I was in the right place, all I had to do was get Pierre's attention.

The man guided me on what cards to put down. Occasionally, his hand would ride up to just below my breast, I was forced to sit there and endure it. We kept up this little act for about 10 minutes until we reached the end of the game. He and Pierre were neck and neck with the same number of cards. The man squeezed me and whispered in my ear, "Lets see if your luck is better than mine... go ahead, make the play." He leaned back; his chest no longer pressed up against me.

I stared at the cards and glanced up at Pierre who plastered a shit eating grin across his face. I hummed before plucking two cards from the man's deck and placing them down. Pierre raised his eyebrows before mumbling something. Edgar gave me a confused look, tilting his head to the side. Was it supposed to be rigged for Pierre to win or something? I looked at the money Pierre had put forward, it seemed like... a lot. I thought about throwing the game until the man leaned forward again, his chest against my back, his grip firm on my waist. I've met these kinds of men before; it never ends well. I sighed.

Pierre and I went back and forth for a bit until I had one last card, "You gonna play it?" The man whispered, I shrugged. Pierre kept his eyes on me, watching my face as I pondered. I was going to win if I put this down. I knew this, I'm not sure the man knew this though.

I weighed my options. If I win, Pierre might be pissed with me, he might take it out on Edgar. Or he could take me up to a room. If I lose, the man holding me would get angry, he would take me up to a room and I wouldn't get a chance to be with Pierre. I sighed as I placed the final card down.

The table sat in silence for a minute before the man holding me burst out laughing, "You lose Pierre!" He shouted, moving his hand to my face, and kissing my cheek. "Oh, you're amazing!" He laughed, I tried to smile but I'm sure it looked awful.

Pierre huffed before shoving the pile of money towards the man, he sucked his teeth before standing up, completely blanking Edgar. He walked over to me and held out his hand.

"I suppose you want your reward too?" He asked, tilting his head to the side in a mocking way. I nodded, ignoring the man's protests.

"I wanted her!" He whined like a child. Pierre rolled his eyes.
