"Do you think I did the right thing?" I asked Maggie. We were in bed after a silent drive back to the motel. My back was pressed against her chest; I needed her warmth.

She chuckled to herself before replying, "Yelling at your brother two days before his wedding? Yeah. I think it was right. But hey," I felt her shrug, "Who am I to say?"

"It was fucked up though... trying to guilt trip me into staying."

"Meh, the guys scared to leave his brothers n sisters. You... took good care of em'. That Shirley one reminds me of you." I spun around so I was facing her.

"Yeah?" She took a second to respond.

"Yeah... You did good." I smiled, even though she couldn't see it. I let out a sigh of relief before I wrapped my arms around her neck.

"Cheers Mags... I knew it was right to bring you here."

"Huh... yeah, it was."

Maggie's POV

I slept... horribly. Our second night in that god damn bed and my back was already cracking in five places. If it weren't for (y/n), I would sleep in the fucking car! But all my pain was worth it when I woke up and she was curled into me. Her head pressed against my breastbone. I gently put my hands on her back and just... let her stay.

She was going to be the death of me.

I always yell at Wally for going 'soft.' He makes eyes at a Bone Cage fighter, and I warn that he'll turn to mush. He spends too much time at the brothel; he'll go soft. And yet, all it took was (y/n) to walk into my life and suddenly... she's turned me into putty.

And she has no idea.

Try as I might, I can't keep her at arms distance. I tried it when I first met her... but the second she took me into that booth, the second she put her hand on my arm. I was gone.

And now, I was just slowly melting into her.

When she woke up, she just sadly rolled out of bed and sulked into the bathroom. This caused concern to bubble up inside of me. Was it me? Did I upset her? Shit... I sat up, the itchy blanket resting in my lap, and I just listened as the shower turned on. She was in there for a while, I wasn't sure what she was doing. I had a temptation to knock on the door and check on her... Maggie no. Chill out girl.

"You ok?" I asked her as soon as she appeared out of the bathroom. She walked towards the duffel bag which we had shoved near the closet.

"Yeah just... it's a lot, y'know?" She sounded so tired.

"Did you sleep well?" Maggie, curb it with the damn questions.

"Eh." She wobbled her hand, "How well can you sleep on that bag of bricks." She said with a smile.

"You sound tired."

"Wow ok." She grabbed a few clothes out of the bag and held them in one hand. "I am tired. I didn't sleep well last night; I'm worried about my brother."

I chortled, "Which one?"

She smiled again and I felt the weight on my heart disappear. "All of them." She replied. "Malachi is off his meds and MISSING. Adrian is about to marry a fucking IMC pig because he doesn't want me sending any more money- and because he probably knocked her up-. Daz wants to become a freedom fighter and Bert doesn't know who I pissing am! Don't even get me started on my sisters!" She said it all in one breath. I could tell this had all been sitting heavy with her.

"What about Cooper?" I sarcastically asked.

"Nah, Coopers chilling. He's alright." She grinned before walking back into the bathroom. She was only in there for a second which gave me time to muster up the courage to ask her my next question.
