"That's... not good." I mumbled as Maggie lifted her shirt up to show me the bullet wounds. She hummed in response, flinging her legs on the table so she could lay down. I rummaged through the supply bins, desperate to find the medicine. "Walter!" I yelled, he quickly turned away from the mirror where he had been inspecting his bruised face for the last five minutes. "Can you find me some of those... syringes, please?" I asked him.

"Is it bad?" He asked, I could hear the anxiety that laced his voice.

"I've survived worse." Maggie chimed in; her voice was strained. She was losing a lot of blood. I sighed as I grabbed a cloth from the supply bin and held it to her side. She winced and scrunched her face up.

"I have to apply pressure Mags." I said, she let out a laugh.

"I like when you call me Mags." She hummed, turning her head to the side, and looking out the door.

"Walter will be back in second." I reassured her, applying more pressure. I cursed to myself; how could I be so stupid? I did this to her. I got too big for my boots, I took the shot and now here she was. Laying on a fucking table in the middle of an IMC base, delirious from blood loss.

"Here!" Walter shouted as he ran back through the doorway, Maggie called out his name and he instantly crouched down by her head. "You alright mate?" He asked her, he kept his voice low. He held his hand up and I took the syringes from him. "Mags..." He nervously said when she didn't reply.

"Mmm, it aint the same when you do it." She turned her head away from him. I opened the box and pulled the syringe out, popping the protective cap off.

"What is?"

"Callin' me Mags, feels nicer when she does it." She mumbled, I quickly stabbed her with the needle, she groaned and raised her head, "You tryin' kill me, you egg!" Walter laughed as Maggie plopped her head back down.

"You're off your head Mags." He joked.

"See, not the same." She muttered. I watched as the bullet wounds slowly began to close. Suddenly, I froze. Exit wounds... I didn't fucking check for exit wounds. I put the needle down and asked her to roll over, she complied with a grunt. Walter encouraged her, patting her back and shoulder, trying his best to comfort her. I pulled up her shirt at the back and let out a sigh of relief when I saw blood pooling on the table. I took another box and snapped it open, taking out the syringe. I stabbed it in her back, she loudly cursed, and Walter shushed her.

Walter and I couldn't decide on the next course of action. I insisted we had to stay in the base for a few more hours, just until Maggie comes back to her senses, and she's fit to navigate the mountains. Walter was certain that backup would have been called and more soldiers were on the way. He argued that it was safer for us all to leave, he said he could carry Maggie, but I refused. We went back and forth until Maggie yelled at us to shut up. Walter just balled his hands into a fist and wiped his cheek.

"We can't stay (y/n)." He firmly said. "Its just an hour walk, once she's in the car-"

"What if the wounds open up, hm?" I asked him, tilting my head to the side, "What if she falls-"

"I'll carry her-"

"What if you trip? What if she gets hurt even more... Look at her Walt- she's barely lucid. She must've lost several volumes of blood." I said, pointing at Maggie who was still laying on the table. She had her hand resting on her ribs, the other was hanging off the side of the table, her fingertips brushing along the floor. I sighed before rubbing Walter's forearm comfortingly, "You could do me a favour and search the place? We can move once Maggie gets more blood in her. It'll take her ages to make new blood besides-" I pulled his ear close to my mouth, "if she doesn't get blood, her body wont work. She'll stop getting rid of urea, her heart will slow down- bad things Walt." I kept my tone serious and stern. He pulled away from me and gave Maggie a frightened glance. "Well?" He hesitated before nodding.
