Jake's Pov
I desperately tried to hide the awkwardness and act as if I was cool infront of Sana. The second I stepped out of their flat, I let out the breath I had been holding in for ages. I wanted to talk to Y/N about moving in with me, but I guess that would have to wait for another time.
I strolled around the building slowly, taking in the peaceful atmosphere. The sun was shining brightly yet it wasn't that warm. It was more like breezy. Just the right temperature.
"Jake?" A voice interrupted my thoughts. I turned to look at where the voice came from behind me. It was my childhood best friend, Jay. It had been years since I'd seen him because he moved to South Korea when we were 12.
"Yooo! Bro, it's been ages! How come you never stayed in contact with me?"
"I just got carried away with life here once I moved here. How ya doin' anyway? How's your family? Is your mum alright?"
"Ah, you moved before the accident didn't you," I said "My parents died in a car accident around one and a half years after you left. Me and Y/N were in the back of the car so we survived"
"Oh, sorry for your loss. How's Y/N? She doing alright?"
"Yeah, she's alright. She actually moved here when she turned 18. I just left her apartment right now actually. Why don't we go talk somewhere like in a cafe?"
"Sounds good, let's go"
We talked whilst on our way to the café, and we talked when we were there. We talked about life and caught up with each other. After talking and talking, he left. However the whole time, I wasn't paying attention. I wasn't paying attention because she was there. Sitting right infront of me.
Back in Australia, there was this girl in middle school. I really liked her so one day, I confessed. Her beautiful, chestnut coloured hair fell long and pretty over her shoulders. And when she tied it up, she looked even prettier. Her dimples stood out when she smiled, and her big eyes matched her pretty face. Her laugh was contagious and would make you smile if you saw it, so that's why I fell for her. Not just looks though, she had an amazing personality and would be kind to anyone she saw. Her charisma stood out, yet she always gave off this secretive aura, as though she was always telling the truth. I ignored it though, as it was none of my business.
One day, she just disappeared. No trace of her was left behind. It took me years to forget her, but now she's here again. Just as pretty as she was years ago. People say that young love never lasts, but here she is, standing before me. And yet I still cannot take my eyes off her. I'm far too tired to talk anymore though. Maybe I should just sit here a bit longer. But it would look weird right? Since Jay is gone now. Maybe I should go home...
I tried to take my eyes off her but I just couldn't. It was like my mind and body were totally different, like some nerves had disconnected or something.
Finally, I was able to take my eyes off her. Just in time though, because she happened to look in my direction at that very second. If she saw me staring, she would've been creeped out. I wonder if she recognised me. Before she had any chance to even say anything if she did remember me, I grabbed my coat and brisk walked out of the cafe.
Phew, that was close.
"Jake?"
Oh shit. Did she recognise me?
