*flashback*

"Mommy! Daddy! Look at what I drew!!"

"Honey, that's lovely! Daddy's driving right now though so show him after" my mum softly said to me whilst she tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Jake, Jake!" I took his earphones out of his ear. "Look at this!"

He patted my head and smiled at me whilst the sun shone behind his head. "Well done our little artist!"

I grinned brightly from ear to ear. Dad stopped at a red light so I showed him my drawing in that space of time.

Around half an hour later, my eyes started to get droopy. We were on a road trip but on our way home now.

My eyes shut and I rested my head on my brother's lap as I dozed off.

A bit later I woke up because it started to get too sunny. I rubbed my eyes gently with my small fists and looked around. I yawned and stretched my arms as I looked out the window beside me, then back at my brother. His head was resting against the car seat, his earphones still in his ears, but he was clearly asleep. My mum also yawned.

"Daddy, are we there yet?"

"Not yet hun you'll have to wait a bit. We're not that far now though" he looked at me through the mirror in the car and smiled at me gently. I looked at the road ahead of me.

There was a deer blocking the path.

"Daddy! Watch out there's a deer!"

He panicked and swerved the car to the right, in an attempt to dodge the deer. Around us there was a forest of trees, and we happened to collide into one of them. I hit my head on the seat infront of me and ended up passing out.

When I woke up, my parents weren't there. I wasn't in the car. Jake wasn't beside me. What happened? Many thoughts raced through my mind.

I seemed to be inside a white room with a beeping machine next to me. I was lying in a bed with a needle stuck in my arm. A strange man in a blue gown walked inside.

I greeted him and he tried to explain what happened. I couldn't process it all. It started to get muffled. The only words I could hear were "I'm sorry for your loss kid, your parents aren't with us anymore"

I couldn't interpret it.

What does he mean by not with us? Are they okay? Are they somewhere else? What about Jake?

I looked down at my hospital gown and then back up at the doctor.

Was this my fault? I should have let my dad concentrate. I was the last person to talk to him.

Tears started to well up in my eyes until I couldn't feel pain anymore. I felt numb all over me. Drops turned into streams and I didn't have the energy to even wipe the tears away. I wanted to hug my parents and Jake. I miss them.

I want to go home.

I shut my eyes tightly, hoping this would all go away, as if it were all a dream.
