An hour later Robin, Steve and Dustin left the supermarket with a cart full of bags. They had split up when they entered so Robin went to get all the girls bits that Max might need while Dustin went off to look at posters and anything else Max might like to decorate her room and that left Steve to grab the groceries. He felt like they had accomplished a lot in the past few hours and he couldn't wait to get back home and start setting up Max's new room. He couldn't wait to set it up with Eddie.

They all got in the car and Steve drove to the hospital to drop Dustin off with a small bag of bits that Max might need while in hospital. Then he dropped Robin off at hers since she hadn't been home in days and needed her own clothes and bed.

Steve turned the radio on and sang along to whatever was on the whole way home. As soon as he pulled up the long dirt path to his cabin he let out an excited 'Yes!' when he realised there were no others cars. He and Eddie could finally be alone for the first time in days.

As he parked up Eddie came running out of the cabin and yanked the drivers side door open. He dragged Steve out, shut the door and shoved him up against the car.

"You need to pay up, Harrington. You promised me a good time once everyone was gone. And well," He gestured around to the empty drive way. "We're finally alone."

Steve chuckled and captured Eddies lips with his, enjoying the feeling of Eddie being pressed up against him. He pulled away a few seconds, pushing Eddie away so he could go to boot and start getting the groceries and stuff for Max inside.

"As much as I would love to fuck you right now, Munson, I was hoping we could get started on Max's room first," He said, grabbing as many bags as he could carry. He may have gone a bit overboard. "If thats okay with you?"

"I suppose I can wait, pretty boy! How about I put the groceries away while you get started and then I'll come and help you?"

Steve gave his boyfriend a nod and smiled. He was glad Eddie didn't mind. He was just so excited to have Max back and wanted to be able to give her the home and family she deserved. He walked excitedly towards the spare room and set all the bags down just outside the door. All of Eddies posters had been removed except for one. Either Eddie forgot about it or it was one he wanted Max to have. Steve assumed it was the second thing.

He started moving the bed and wardrobe into the middle of the room and flung some plastic covers over them that he had gotten earlier. Next he pulled out a couple of paint pots and rollers. Dustin had picked out a sort of maroon colour stating it was one of Max's favourite colours. Steve decided to trust the young boy.

Steve turned to face the doorway when he heard footsteps coming down the hallway. Eddie soon came into view and smiled when he saw they were going to be painting the room together. He had read books about couples painting together and it being kind of romantic so he wondered if it would be like that. Maybe he would dab some paint on Steves nose and flick some paint at him.

"I like the colour!" Eddie said as he grabbed a paint roller and got to work.

Steve grabbed the second roller and went to the other side of the room. "Dustin chose it. I hope she likes it otherwise that little dingus has lost my trust!"

They got to work on painting and it didn't seem to take long. Steve had finished his side of the room first and started to watch Eddie who was comcentrating, his tongue stuck out a little bit as he did so. He caught Steve staring at him and stuck his middle finger up before carrying on. Soon enough all four walls were painted and surprisingly Eddie had behaved and decided not to cover his boyfriend in paint. They tidied up and put the left over paint away in a cupboard before heading to the kitchen to make some lunch. Steve watched as Eddie grabbed food out of the fridge. He chuckled as the long haired man tripped and dropped it all, cursing to himself. In that moment he felt something he had been waiting to feel. He was 100% sure it was the right time to surprised Eddie with his fixed guitar.
