Steve and Eddie sat on a bench overlooking the beach, enjoying the colours dancing over the water as the sun set above them. Families had packed up and left a little while ago which left the beach almost empty. This had easily become their favourite time of day since they had moved. Max was staying at a friends house so they had some quality time to themselves.
"Wanna go for a walk along the shore?" Steve asked, getting up and holding out his hand for his boyfriend to hold. At this time of day they were able to truly be themselves without judgement as this was also the time of day others like them would come to the beach.
Eddie didn't hesitate to take Steves hand and follow him down to the sea. They kicked their shoes off and held them in their free hands. "This is still so surreal to me. We definitely made a good choice to move here!"
Steve grinned and nodded. "Definitely the best decision. Do you think Max is happy here?"
"Of course, Stevie. It's not like we took her away from everyone. We moved miles away and the shits literally followed us." Eddie chuckled. He stopped and threw his shoes onto the sand as far away from the water as he could and then he grabbed Steves shoes and did the same.
"What are you doing?" Steve asked, confused. His question was soon answered when he was lifted up into the air by his waist and twirled around. Although he wasn't in the air for long because the pair toppled over and hit the ground, sand flying everywhere. They looked at each other before bursting out laughing. Eddie had sand all in his hair and half of Steves face was covered in it. Steve propped himself up on one elbow and grabbed Eddie, pulling him a hug.
"I love you, Eddie."
Steves eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the sunlight that was shining into the room. He smiled to himself as he looked over at a peacefully sleeping Eddie and remembered the dream. He reached out and stroked the mans cheek with his thumb, causing the doe eyed man to stir.
"Do you want to lose a thumb?" Eddie mumbled sleepily, swatting Steves hand away. He turned over and went back to sleep, lightly snoring.
Steve chuckled and shook his head as he got out of bed. He put on some sweatpants and went to the kitchen to sort some breakfast out. As he passed the sofa he gave Lucas a poke in the arm and smirked when the young boy jolted awake.
"Dude, not cool!" Lucas exclaimed as he threw a cushion at Steves retreating form.
"If you were going to wake Lucas up you could have at least made it more entertaining by pushing him off the sofa!" Max grinned from the island where she was already sat with a cup of coffee. She flipped Lucas off as he gave her evils from the sofa.
"I'll keep that in mind for next time he sleeps over!"
Max went over to the fridge to get some breakfast food out for Steve and rolled her eyes when she saw the fridge was crammed full. "You do know the others are bringing food too! You didn't need to get all this food."
"Leave Mama Steve alone!" Lucas said as he entered the kitchen, sat down and drank from her coffee cup. He knew it was a risk but he couldn't help himself.
"Yeah, leave Steve alone! He became a mother at such a young age. He can't help that his maternal instincts make him want to feed absolutely everyone." Eddie piped up, yawning as he walked into the kitchen to join them all.
Steve glared at his boyfriend while the other two cracked up. He turned back on them and started frying the bacon and eggs. He listened to them all chatter on about some movie that was coming out on video and smiled to himself. He could get used to mornings like these.
