Recovery - Steddie ♡

Chapter Eighteen

It had been three days. Three days since Hopper, Nancy and El had been trapped in the upside down. The others had no way of contacting them and no way of knowing if they were okay or if they were dead. It had also been three days since Will had been temporarily possessed. No one except Steve and Jonathan had left the cabin. Joyce was the one holding the group together. She made sure they all washed and ate and she even made Steve go into town and grab some spare clothes for everyone. Everyone was worried and on edge.

Steve and Jonathan were currently back at the abandoned building that used to be Hawkins lab like they had every afternoon since the others disappeared. They were looking for any sign of their friends but had no luck so far. Neither of them really spoke except to let the other know each room they searched was clear. For the first time in 3 days Jonathan spoke more than a few words.

"Hey Steve?" He spoke quietly to the man next to him as they shon their flash lights into yet another empty room. "Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah, man. What's up?"

"I know someone else who is gay. They seem pretty miserable because of it and I don't know how to help. They haven't even admitted it to me but I want them to know I'm here for them and that they can confide in me," Jonathan replied, trying not to give any hints as to who he was talking about. "How would I go about bringing it up?"

Steve thought for a moment. He remembered all the conversations he had with Robin but realised she hadn't known about him until he actually told her. "Erm, I think that's something Eddie would have a good answer for. No one actually guessed I liked men until I actually admitted it."

"Oh, okay. Thanks, man. Have you been happy since you came out?"

"The happiest I've ever been to be honest. I guess I was scared at first," Steve said as he pushed another door open quickly and shon his flash light into the room. He wasn't surprised it was empty. "I always thought I liked girls. I was brought up to think being gay was wrong."

"I think everyone was brought to think that, sadly."

"Do you want me or Eddie to talk to Will for you? Or be in the room with you?"

"How did you know it was Will?"

"I've always noticed he was different to the other boys. He has never shown interest in girls so I've always had a feeling." Steve said as they checked the last room with no luck. "Lets get out of here and back home."

When Jonathan didn't reply he turned round to find the man leaning against a wall trying to calm himself down.

"I'm sure Nance is fine. You know what a badass she is!" He patted Jonathan on the shoulder reassuringly. "She has Hopper and El with her. If anyone can survive the Upside Down it's those three."

"I know, you're right. I just can't stop worrying."

The two men made their way back to the car and started the half an hour journey home. They just sat in comfortable silence until they saw the Hawkins sign.

"So do you want us to talk to Will?" Steve asked, glancing at Jonathan.

"If you guys could be there when I talk to him that would be great! I don't think now is a good time though."

"Definitely not now but once everyone is back safe." Steve agreed.

Steve pulled up to the cabin just in time hear shouting coming from inside. He and Jonathan ran inside to find Eddie laying on the floor with Will on top of him, his hands wrapped around the mans neck. Everyone was trying to drag Will off of Eddie with no luck. If was like he was stronger than everyone else and there was only one way that could be.
