A little family rift wont cause no harm, right?

The night was closing to an end, myself and Marshall were wiped out and sitting with one another observing everybody else drinking and having fun. He sweetly took ahold of my hand and kissed it tentatively, which made me gush with love and pride,

"It's been... so.. perfect"

"Today?" He smirked,

"Yeah.. well no, not just today, but since we reconciled, it's just been a whirlwind of smiles and laughter hasn't it?"

"Yea, and I really hope shit stays that way"

"Well that'll depend won't it" I grinned playfully, to which he reciprocated my facial expression,

"Oh? Depend on what exactly?"

"I mean, there's a whole list of.."

"Shit that I do ima guess?"

"Yeah you know, like leaving the toilet seats up, kicking me in your sleep.. the constant farting, this has to stop, really, I can't take much more" I joked,

"Man.." we laughed,
"If that's all the grievances you got with me then ain't you one lucky lady" he wrapped his arm around me and kissed me on my forehead,
"What's goin' on over there?" I looked up at Marshall to see where his stare was angled, he was frowning at Hailie who was seemingly raising her voice with everyone kinda mingled into each other so I couldn't really understand either,

"I'm not sure, I think we should go over"

"Nah. They're all hard on the liquor, so if any drama is unfolding then I wanna be in bed with you, swerving it. Can we make a start on saying our goodbyes?" He stood up so I followed,

"I mean, if you want to, but the nights still young?"

"Listen. You know what they get like after dark"

"Gremlins, but activated with alcohol rather than water?" I chuckled as he nodded in agreement,

"Exactly, so come on, before it gets rowdy"

"Alright old man"

"Watch it. Ain't too late to dig out those divorce papers" I rolled my eyes but soon stopped and quickly clocked onto Hailie again, she seemed to be gunning for.. Denaun?

"Ay ay what's the problem here?" Marshall straight up interjected the small dispute,

"It ain't nothing my brother, just a light hearted disagreement between us"

"I wouldn't exactly call it that" Hailie had been hitting the cocktails all day so she was a little... under the influence,

"Yo, attitude, little Mrs. Mojito" Marshall quipped,

"Attitude?" She scoffed,
"Sorry but I'm not gonna let him talk trash about my stepmom especially on a day when her and my father are renewing their vows, like no, that's not okay with me"

"Hailie, cmon now I ain't said anything like that, don't twist it" Denaun grinned,

"Twist what?" She bit back,

"Hai, we should get back to the hotel" Evan interjected and put a soothing hand on her shoulder,

"Y'all had too much, it's been a long day, I think we should cut this short and.. and recoup over breakfast" Marshall took charge,

"Dad you really ought to know what he's said because it's out of order" Hailie was wound up and I was more than curious as to what had caused this squabble, her and Denaun had a very close 'niece and uncle' bond so it wasn't like her to be going at him like this,

"It's been a beautiful day, let's not end this on a bad note" I spoke up as I could see Marshall was gonna get a little hot headed if we all didn't call it a day right here and right now,
