My mum had quickly grown very tired so I helped her from the garden to her bed. I then helped with her medication and took a seat on the edge of her bed as we proceeded to chat for around 20 minutes before she drifted off.
Watching her sleep so peacefully choked me up and suddenly I felt as though there was no air to breathe. I couldn't help but think that this was what she'd look like in her coffin. At that very thought I struggled immensely to fight back the tears as I ran out of her room. Once the door closed behind me I let it all out. I had to compose myself but this was just too much to process, not only that but I needed to keep strong for my mum, and right now I was being anything but.
I made my way over to the main bathroom to gather my thoughts and to clean myself up. My eyes were red, as was my nose, I looked absolutely shattered already, crying really took it out of me, as it did anyone else.
I soon enough made my way back down the stairwell and followed the sound of my father and Marshall's voices, coming from the direction of my dads study.
I walked in and saw my dad pouring himself a small scotch as Marshall stopped mid conversation at the sight of me,

"Thought we'd lost you" he smiled softly as I smiled back at him from the doorway,

"Nope. Has my dad been boring you with all of his showroom tales?" I grinned as I walked in,

"Ey he knows a thing or two about cars that's for sure" my father grinned to Marshall,

"He's got enough of them" I chuckled,

"Man that's a lie, I own more game machines than I do cars"

"You've got a whole arcade in your house so when you put it like that it's not a great comparison"

"Gamer too are we?" My dad asked,

"Yea guess you could say that. In all honesty I'ma big nerd"

"The word nerd being used to the highest point of accuracy" I chuckled,

"I'd of never guessed. Look.. I'm going to head down to the golf club whilst Eleanor sleeps the afternoon away. There's some loose ends that need my appraisal, it's quite important and I've not had the time to go down in person whilst caring for your mother. So whilst you two are here to keep an eye on her you don't mind if I go down there do you?"

"Don't be silly dad, it's a beautiful day and it'll do you some good to get out of this space. Besides, we want to help. So no, of course we don't mind"

"You both haven't made plans to go anywhere whilst here?"

"No. We're here privately. If anything, we want to stay here and not step out"

"Alright then. Thank you. And Marshall?"

"Yea?"

"Thank you for being such a great husband to our daughter, we truly are so sorry we wasn't able to make the renewal of your vows, but by the sounds of what you had planned, it sounded like the perfect day for our perfect daughter"

"You don't even gotta apologize. And you're right, she is perfect, and deserves nothing short of that" they had a manly hug, my heart was so full of love to see this,

"Alright you two, I'll see you this evening. Eleanor will most likely sleep until around 8pm, by then I'll be home to make tea for us all"

"Alright dad, take care" I gave him a kiss on the cheek to see him off.

Both myself and Marshall walked back to the garden, fully armed with an array of refreshments to enjoy in the Sun whilst laying around the outdoor pool,

"So this is where you grew up from what age?" Marshall asked as he snacked on some red grapes,

"Uhm.. I'd like to say from around 9 or 10 years old" I picked a big juicy strawberry,
