"Good morning America, we are live on Shade 45 with your host Sway! Now before we get into any details of the show, what's coming up and all that good stuff, we start today on a magnificent piece of information and when I say it's breaking news I mean it's BREAKING NEWS! If you're waking up today and you're in need of some good news to get you goin' then ladies and gentlemen I'm here to DELIVER! I'm smilin', for real I'm smiling. It's the first of May, a new month and new beginnings, and well, new additions too! Man this will come as a shock to everyone listening right now.. word from Mr. Paul Rosenberg himself is that at 5:40am today, Eminem and his wife Jodie Rose welcomed their first son into the world, Maisen Ronnie Mathers.. man what a beautiful name and tribute to his late uncle! We're told that mother and baby are doing great, can we get a huge round of applause goin' in the studio! I mean... beautiful just beautiful. I of course know Em and Jo personally, when I say that those two are a match made in heaven, the energy between them, how the look at each other, they been a love story since beyond time, not many get to see how they are together, they be so private ain't nobody know a baby was on the way! Ain't nobody deserve this more than them. My mind is blown but for real we're gonna bring it back a little, I just wanna say that from everyone here at Shade 45, Marshall, Jodie congratulations on your blessing of a son, we wish you guys all the best, and we extend the congratulations to your beautiful families who no doubt will be wanting those newborn cuddles, STAT! Before we get into our first song of the show I wanna end this intro with a little bit of knowledge on the month of May The name "May" comes from the Latin word Maius mēnsis, which means "Maia's month". Maia was the name of a Greek goddess of fertility and growth! So to have a baby in a month that symbolises new growth and fertility seems like this baby came at the most perfect time of the year don't you agree folks?! I smiled sleepily in my hospital bed at that beautiful announcement on the radio as I looked over to Marshall at the foot of it, lovingly rocking Maisen to sleep. I was exhausted after a 13 hour labour but I was still on too much of a high to sleep. Alaina and Hailie were on their way to the house to get ready for the meeting of their new little brother and family had been told before the announcement went live on air on Marshall's radio channel.
"He's just a vision of you... your eyes, nose, lips, ears... I don't get a look in" I blushed at the vision of Marshall cradling our son against his bare chest,
"Hailie was my twin when she was just a baby, now she's older she's a vision of Kim, there's time for him to change"
"I hope he doesn't, he'll be a little heartbreaker if he grows up with his dads good looks"
"Yo I was a butt ugly kid, I hope for his sake that he grows into some features from you"
"You wasn't! Marshall you was so cute, I've seen the family photos"
"I didn't exactly get my ass beat on and bullied for being the cute kid, anyways you really ought to get some sleep you must be exhausted"
"Swiftly changing the subject... I'm due to express soon so I can't even if I wanted too"
"You've expressed enough for the whole dang hospital take a break before the cavalry arrive" Marshall came to take a seat next to me in the nursing chair,
"It's more about keeping my supply going" I rubbed my eyes, they were burning with the lack of sleep,
"Aight pump then sleep, whilst he's catching some Z's"
"And what about you? You look shattered"
"I'm on cloud 9, fuck sleep"
"You're... so amazing with him" I could not stop with the smiles,
"I'm besotted with him, and I can't tell you how proud I am of you for bringing him into the world. There's truly nothing more beautiful than this right here"
He was right, there really wasn't. After everything we'd been through together, years and years of battles, of break ups, of losses, of extreme highs and the lowest lows, it all paved the way to this pure and beautiful moment right here. Being a step mother was everything to me, but carrying my own flesh and blood, and giving life to him, bringing him into this world was a love nobody could have ever prepared me for. It was indescribable, hearing that first little cry, seeing his face for the first time, seeing his little squinty unfocused eyes trying to look for the voice he'd only ever known, feeling his warm skin against mine, but most of all seeing half of me and half of my soulmate in true form, a perfect mix of us both, it completed every fibre of us. Any trauma we held in our hearts was truly healed by Maisen. Another huge high was seeing the love of my life cradling our baby, seeing him babble to him and speak to him with the softest of tones, it was the first time I'd ever seen Marshall like this. Of course I'd seen how he was with Nate's children as babies but this was way different.
"No more shows, no more albums... I'm done" I watched Marshalls hand softly stroke up and down Maisen's spine as he laid sound asleep on his daddies chest,
"No?" I sleepily smiled,
"You two.." he took ahold of my hand, "Are my main priority. I missed out on so many firsts with Hailie, I'm gonna be here for every single moment with our boy, I ain't missing out on a thing and I wanna soak up every damn single minute of you mothering him, you've never been more beautiful to me"
"I love you, you big cheeseball" I brought his hand up and kissed it,
"I can't wait to get you both home. It's gonna be pandemonium out there"
"Well no doubt Paul will have hired optimum security to clear the area"
"All is in hand. Speaking of, how long until we can leave?"
"We can go in a few hours, I'm just waiting for the all clear from one of the nurses"
"Do you feel alright? Within yourself?"
"Mhm I just wanna be home with you two, I mean don't get me wrong it's nice in here but I'm ready to go"
"Yea well.. we'll be home before you know it baby"
"Hey.. I just thought.. are you going to sing him daddies most notorious nursery rhyme?" I winked,
"Oh.. I see where you're goin' with that.. and you know what, we can absolutely do that..." he smirked, "Hush little baby, don't say a word, Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird. And if that mockingbird won't sing, Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring. And if that diamond ring turns to brass, Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass. And if that looking glass gets broke, Papa's gonna buy you a billy goat. And if that billy goat won't pull, Papa's gonna buy you a cart and bull. And if that cart and bull turn over, Papa's gonna buy you a dog named Rover. And if that dog named Rover won't bark, Papa's gonna buy you a horse and cart. And if that horse and cart fall down, You'll still be the sweetest little baby in town"
"How things come around full circle" I wiped a tear from my eye,
"Yea well truth be told, we prefer my version don't we kid" he kissed Maisen sweetly on the head as he gave a little newborn grumbly squeak of approval which made us both softly chuckle.
Who would have ever even thought possible that we would finally get our
