A womans gut feeling is never wrong.

I'd been up since 6am, our scan wasn't until 9:30am but I'd woke up with a tonne of anxiety, I'd had little sleep tossing and turning, but that was always the case wasn't it, whenever you actually needed a decent nights sleep you'd never get one.

"Good morning momma" Marshall hugged me from behind, oh how I loved being tucked up in his arms,

"Morning" I smiled as his hands reached round to my stomach whilst he kissed on my neck,

"You ready to go?"

"I've been ready for two hours, I couldn't sleep, I've been up since 6"

"Yea? Why didn't you wake me?"

"You need your sleep with those long studio stints. Which, for the record I won't be coming to today if that's alright"

"I guess I can let you outta my sight for one day. So you just gonna stay home?"

"Well.. no. I've got a job to go to"

"Work from home. You don't gotta be in the office all the time, you're the boss, people don't expect you there all the time"

"It might be the case for other power crazy assholes who don't want to be around their staff, but I actually enjoy being the fun, and present boss"

"I don't get it" he shrugged as he drank some water,

"You wouldn't, because you're a hermit. You'd hold a whole concert from your living room if you could"

"That ain't a bad idea.. besides would you rather I be out in the world?"

"Actually no, I appreciate you being alone at home and not out all hours living lavish and having fun" we chuckled,

"I have plenty of fun here, what more do I need? I got my best friend and wife at home with me, ain't nobody about to run up on me, I got all the entertainment here on these grounds, what do I gotta be out in the world for?"

"Mm, god forbid you should ever wish to socialise with anyone else other than me, your daughters or the staff around here"

"For what? Why do I wanna go put on a fake ass smile and pretend to be interested in what anyone else has gotta say? That shits exhausting"

"And that's why you hardly have any friends"

"Thank fuck. I'll drink to that" he finished off his bottle of water,
"Who's driving today?"

"You can. I can't be arsed"

"Not like you, you're always bitching about how I never let you drive"

"No bitching today, shut up and enjoy it" I chuckled as I picked up my handbag from the kitchen countertop,

"Oh I will" he grinned as he placed his hand on the small of my back to usher me out of the kitchen.

We both sat nervously in the private hospital room, awaiting for a sonographer to take us through to the scan room. They'd booked us a one hour window where no patients were booked in to give us as much privacy as possible which I thought was really kind of them. My eyes were all around the room, reading each individual poster and watching the TV screen which kept replaying the same baby safety videos over and over, whereas Marshall kept his eyes hidden under the brim of his hat with his head in his phone as he played some kind of game on it,

"Mrs. Mathers?" We both looked over at a fresh faced young woman with a very kind smile,

"Thanks" we stood up in unison and followed her through the double doors...
