Spending the night and waking up with Marshall felt like a complete and utter dream. Sleeping away and being away from your other half really created such a void that you'd tend to not expect after years upon years of living with together, because what would sound more bliss than a little break away from their snoring and them annoying you and being under your feet? Funnily enough those were the things that I missed most.
For the most part of the day I'd enjoyed just being home and pottering around it. I'd nattered to the maid for a little while, worked out in the gym and touched up on some emails, I had 3 meetings scheduled this week and to be honest my head just wasn't in it, but tomorrow Karlie was due to take a much needed and much earnt break once I was officially back to work, she'd been holding the fort down for a long while whilst my mums health was declining and what with me being whisked away to renew my vows and then the funeral. She was my rock and I really needed to do something lavish for her as a thank you, I needed to call my events planner Emily. As I scrolled for her number an incoming call from Marshall popped up,
"Hey you" I smiled as I went in search for my car keys,
"Afternoon, did you sleep well?"
"Like a baby. You?
"Best nights sleep I've had since you've been gone. Are you gonna come see me?"
"Where are you?"
"The studio, where else?"
"Sorry I'm just trying to find my car keys.. erm yeah, no sure, I can come see you, are you wanting me to pick up some lunch for you guys?"
"I was more thinking come get me and we'll go grab some food together?"
"I'd.. I'd love that" I smiled,
"Yea me too. Aight well I gotta head back in, so come by, say... 1:30?"
"I'll be there"
"Aight, love you"
"Love you too" I ended the call and then called Emily to arrange a meeting in town for coffee to talk about Karlies surprise party.
"There she IS" Emily gushed as I excitedly paced towards her, giving her a big hug before we took a seat in our favourite, quaint bistro. Once we had a little catch up and ordered coffee it was time to get to planning,
"So I think the best thing to do would be starting off by a venue, did you have one in mind already, or?""No" she giggled at my abrupt answer,
"Just before I called you the idea came to me to do something for her as a thank you, so I'm pretty fucking clueless""Okay so we're literally starting with a blank page" she tapped her pen against her note pad,
"Mhm. I know that we have restrictions as far as it goes with travel because of her little boy and sorting out additional care if she's away but if we keep it simple and stick to a Saturday night then I think we'll be good"
"Okay, a Saturday night. This upcoming Saturday?"
"Ideally, she has time off work so she can have a long hangover and not have to worry about work on the following Monday" we both broke off for a second to thank the waiter as he placed our order on the table,
"You do like to give me a challenge don't you"
"Well any Saturday really but the sooner the better"
