Keep safe, little one.

I could hear murmurs of voices... I couldn't make out what they were saying or even if they were male or female, all I could clearly make out was the sounds of a hospital which encouraged me to try to open my eyes in the dim lit room.
My body felt like dead weight and my head was pounding, I had a breathing tube up my nose and I looked down at my hand which had an IV connected to it, I groaned as I turned my head to look at the blurred image of two nurses talking between themselves,

"Excuse me" my voice croaked, my throat was so dry,

"Mrs. Mathers, how nice of you to join us" a kind face came into focus, I wearily smiled at her,
"Would you like for me to get you some water?"

"Please" I licked my dry lips,

"I won't be a minute, I just need to get your doctor now that you're awake, he's just down the corridor" she took off. I looked to my side where my handbag was sitting on my bedside table. I firstly took out my lip balm and applied it, and then I grabbed my phone, there was a million and one missed call notifications from multiple people but I just didn't have the energy to be sat there going through them and returning calls or texts.

"Good evening Mrs. Mathers, how are we feeling?" A doctor entered with the nurse,

"A little worse for wear" I quipped as they both grinned positively at me,

"I'm sure. I'm Dr. Hoffman, this is Nurse Stevenson, I'm the lead consultant here at your private practice. May I call you Jodie?"

"I'd prefer that"

"Okay Jodie. Before we get to the nitty gritty I just want to test your memory a little... do you recall how you got here?"

"Yeah, I.." I tried to patch things up, I remembered being at a club.. I then remembered being at home getting ready for... the party, Karlies party.. why were things so all over?

"It's okay take you're time, you have suffered concussion so things may seem a little staggered"

"I remember, it's all just a little.. out of place. But I.. I was.." the frightening recall of heading towards the bottom deck hand rail made me recoil,
"I was pushed off the.. the yacht. The top deck"

"Okay. So looking at your head injury it is consistent with you tumbling down and hitting your head on the lower deck railing. According to eye witnesses as soon as you fell into the water it took all of 5 minutes to recover you back onto the boat where CPR was administered until you regained consciousness. There was some water in your lungs, but only very little. To explain the course of treatment upon your arrival we have supplied oxygen to your lungs to restore and regulate your breathing, administered an IV for your bodies nutrition and performed a CT scan of your brain, there was some slight swelling given the impact you endured however no bleeds were found. You have had 6 stitches to the back of your scull where the blunt trauma caused an opening. Jodie do you have any questions for me at all?"

"No I don't think..." my thoughts suddenly stopped in their tracks, and instant tears surfaced,
"I'm.. I'm pregnant, only very early but.." I started to get choked up,

"We called your next of kin, your husband made us aware of this, if you're wanting to know if the pregnancy is okay, it's of limited knowledge at this stage with any pregnancy, your husband reported that you are currently around 4 weeks, is this correct?"

"Give or take"

"Then I'm sure you will understand that we cannot preform a scan as it would be too early to see a heartbeat to verify signs of life, but no bleeding has been reported by the nurses who have taken care of you thus far. In my professional opinion your pregnancy should not be effected, there was no trauma caused to your groin or abdominal surroundings"
