Hotch told the team to rest, and bring back new eyes. But as soon as she got home she told both men what happened and all the information ATCU gave them. It wasn't much but it was a start.
"I'm going to sleep, I'm tired" Madelyn got into her bed finally after two days.
The next morning when she woke up she saw only Lincoln in the living room. She woke him up and he informed her.
"He said that it was better for him to go, he's looking for the others, warning them, said that we should focus on stopping your team and the ATCU"
"Is he really that stupid, and my team is not to blame" Madelyn bluntly responded
"Your team is trying to put me as a serial killer"
"That's the ATCU, my team is trying to find the truth"
"You want the truth? The truth is that your team is helping an organization that wants to put people like us under microscopes but you are so in love with the idea of a family that you can't see if they knew who you are, what you are they would sell you out" Lincoln snapped, he hated Madelyn's team especially now that they knew about him
Madelyn just stared at him with a blank expression. Lincoln opened his mouth, probably to apologize.
"Save it" Madelyn turned and left for the office.
She got there late, like 10 minutes, but she never did. She apologized and sat at the table while everyone else continued the profile. She just listened like the day before.
"Okay, where does that leave us?" Morgan asked
"He's a manipulator" wrong, but Emily was sure she was right
"He's probably with someone he manipulated into trusting him" Wrong as well, Hotch continued Emily's idea
"Probably a woman" fuck
"Why do you say that Spencer?" Madelyn questioned him
"Well-" Reid was interrupted by Gregory
"Do you have a profile yet?"
"I'll give it to you" Hotch and Gregory walked outside
Madelyn was looking through some paperwork, the report of how Lincoln escaped. Quite impressive actually, after he was found by ATCU agents he overpowered an electrical tower so a barrier of electricity kept the agents back while Lincoln ran. She was so focused on the work that when a cup was placed in front of her she almost jumped, she looked up at Reid while he let go of the cup.
"Brought you some tea"
"Thanks" Madelyn smiles
...
"Here," Reid said, handing Morgan and Moon coffees, and Morgan looked at Madelyn with an eyebrow raised "what's this about?" Reid continued
"Nothing" Madelyn answered a bit too fast which made Reid a little hurt
"You are gonna have to tell him sometime Moon" Morgan said smiling
"Say what?" Reid continued asking
"Okay... this is difficult to say but em, I don't really like coffee, well that's not true, I hate it, I just simply can't stand it, it's really really bitter" Madelyn felt relief finally telling him, he had been bringing her coffee for the past 3 days and she always gave them to someone else when he wasn't looking
"You don't like it?"
"I like tea" Reid looked like he was just told that black was white and hot is cold
...
"You're welcome," Reid said smiling
Hotch finally came back and they all started again, while Gregory just stayed on the back.
"Did anyone else escape?" JJ questioned Gregory
"Yeah, some, but none of them match his abilities" Gregory answered
"But he's a doctor, maybe others tried to find him, this way we can track him" JJ continued, Madelyn just hated how smart the team was at this moment
"There was this one guy, we never caught his face but one of our agents shot him in the shoulder" Gregory informed the rest
"Let's start there," Hotch told Garcia
"Start what exactly sir?" Garcia questioned
"Well finding someone that's running from an international organization is extremely hard, it would have taken some time to find him where he needed treatment, but where do you go when you have an injury but can't go to the hospital?" Emily asked
"The vet" Madelyn had to help or they would suspect
"Okay... there were 52 burglarised veterinary offices in the country in the past week"
"Narrow that down to Virginia, the last sight of him was here," Gregory asked
"Uhhh that would make it 12... but only 3 with medical stuffy things stolen"
"What about drugs?" Rossi asked
"That would be all 12 of them" Garcia responded
"In those 3, which ones had the least drugs stolen?" Rossi clarified his idea
"That would be the "Animal Hospital", creative name, some gauze, little pain killers, and other medical stuff"
"That could be it" Reid comments
Gregory left making a call while Madelyn just begged there weren't any cameras.
"This is interesting," Garcia said catching everyone's attention "the alarm system is new, like a really good one and it didn't go off"
"So, he's smart," Morgan remarked
Yeah, he is, not enough tho, he still left, left her. That's what Madelyn thought.
After about an hour they were all signing confidentiality forms promising never to say a thing about what they saw, heard or researched. And after that all of them were gone, the files, Gregory, and the pictures of Lincoln on the board but the only thing about the case that didn't leave were Madelyn's feeling, the feeling that this was only the start of losing her family.
