Madelyn woke up, she had taken the couch, Lincoln the floor, and Gordon against his will the bed. Madelyn stepped over Lincoln who was sleeping. She entered her room and grabbed some clothes. And after changing and eating something she opened the door.
"Leaving this early?" Gordon made Madelyn jump and reach for her gun
"I have work, rest you need it, don't leave, or don't leave walking" with that Madelyn closed the door.
Madelyn was about to go down the stairs when her neighbor opened the door.
"Good morning baby" flirting, as always
"Morning Caleb"
"You know I miss you every time you leave"
"Oh, but you have Jackie for company" Madelyn quite liked Caleb, he was always flirting which took her a minute to get used to but even though he flirted every chance he got with any girl he would never cheat on Jackie, he loved her, a LOT, like it gets anoying lot, "plus someone has to protect you"
"Good luck catching the monster, baby" he said laughing a bit because of her remark
"Thank you, and Caleb, stop calling me baby"
"Sure thing" Caleb only started calling her that after he realized how much it bothered her
"Say hi to Jackie for me" with that Madelyn left to work.
On all considerations, this day was going well. Her favorite place to get tea had a 35% discount, Caleb's talk reminded her of the old days and she was getting back to work. The definition of a perfect day. Until she got to work.
She got out of the elevator and saw Emily on her way to the desk.
"You're back" Emily smiled at the girl
"I am, finally"
"I'm sorry about your friend"
They got to Morgan, Spencer, JJ, and Penelope and Spencer were the first to look at Madelyn. They talked about nothing really until Strauss came in with two people, a man, and a woman. They walked straight to Hotch's office.
"Anyone knows who they are?" Madelyn felt something was wrong
"No idea" JJ responded
Soon Hotch came out of his office, the others following. He looked at his team and then gestured us into the briefing room. Madelyn walked in after JJ and the unknown man looked curiously at her.
"This is director Analise Williams, and her right hand Gregory Wilson"
"I'm sorry, director of what?" Madelyn didn't like them already
"The advanced threat control unit" Annalise spoke with authority
"It's an honor to meet you both" with that David got up as the rest and they all shaked hands as well as Madelyn
"What can we help you with?" Emily spoke
"Lincoln Campbell" Gregory's voice echoed in Madelyn's head
"I'm sorry, Who?" Penelope asked
"I'm sure you all have seen the news" Analise gave everyone a file and as soon as Madelyn opened it she saw him, same picture as the one on the news "he's an unknown, an abomination, and his species have been corrupting the world"
Madelyn's blood boiled as she stared straight back at the woman
"What are you saying? That he's an alien or something" Morgan said humorously, he didn't mean it like a joke but he didn't really put it the best way
"That's confidential" Gregory gave the answer that shocked everyone on the team, except for Madelyn
"They need you to profile him, find where he is, and then break him to find out who else is like him" Strauss informed them
"All we know is of that file, we need to address other points but Gregory will come and go" Analise left and Gregory watched her leave
"Just so you know, every resource of the ATCU is looking for him" with that he left and Strauss behind him
Two hours later of getting through their heads that people, or not really "people", existed, everyone knew less than a quarter of Lincoln except for Madelyn but they didn't know that. They saw video footage of Lincoln using his ability. And all they had on the profile was he was not a sociopath or psychopath. Then Emily started to pull a thread Madelyn wished no one found.
"If he was on the run, and isn't a psychopath, he could have established a relationship with someone to help him"
"Maybe, but even though he isn't a psychopath he is highly intelligent, I mean he managed to go through high school, medical school, and work as a doctor without anyone suspecting anything, that takes high intelligence and some level of manipulation skills," Derek said while Madelyn only focused on the errors, high school? he didn't get his powers until after graduation
"I think I found something," Garcia said "A couple of years ago, an 18-year-old that looked suspiciously like our alien friend, was drinking and driving, got into an accident with this girlfriend. Luckily the girl is alive but the boyfriend ran, could be a coincidence but the resemblance is too canny"
With that Penelope turned to her computer, a young picture of Lincoln and a current one.
"So that's the stressor, ALMOST killing his girlfriend? That doesn't make sense, he wouldn't kill then, not like they make it seem" Reid realized what he said as soon as it left his mouth
"Make it seem? You don't think they are telling us all the truth?" David was concerned for Reid
"Moon? Anything to say?" Hotch looked at Madelyn as well as everyone, he was concerned as she hasn't said anything since they started the profile
"It doesn't add up, he's a doctor"
"Same as the riverside serial killer in the 90's" Rossi remarked
"Yeah but most doctors that are serial killers are angels of death" Madelyn just wanted to get out of there
"And they gave us only one victim, who had a gun, there's something they aren't telling us" Morgan agreed
"Just got off the phone with Gregory, they won't realize any more info, we gotta work with what we have" JJ said as she walked in the room
At least half an hour later Madelyn was coming out of the bathroom when she saw Gregory and Hotch in his office. She past them and walked into the briefing room.
"What's Hotch telling Wilson?"
"What you said, they aren't telling us the whole truth" JJ stated
Soon Hotch came out
"They can't give us more information"
"Why?" Garcia wanted to catch him, but so did everyone else
"They say it's classified"
"They can't expect us to build a profile with this" Emily remarked
"They do, and we have to"
After 3 hours there was still nothing. Madelyn of course could even tell them his favorite cereal or which sock he put on first, but she didn't want to and she couldn't. She was in between two families. The last one and the true one, the one that shaped her into who she is today and the one that completes who she is.
