16: Couple

This time in the car it wasn't silent at all. They were talking, mostly small talk about nothing but it was something. Madelyn didn't want to worry about the rest of the world or the future or anything else that wasn't them. This exact moment when they were just friends catching up. Friends that dated and now one of them had feelings still while the other was in love with a man she just betrayed.

In the store, though there was silence in every way except the literal. No one understood what was happening, the number of people present wasn't helping and the fact that there were more of their way was worse.

"Did you see anything else, sir?" The local police officer asked while Hotch, Emily, and Gregory approached

"We'll take it from now" Gregory flashed his ATCU ID to the officer and he left immediately "I am agent Gregory Wilson of the ATCU and these are SSA Aaron Hotchner and Emily Prentiss"

"Hello," the man said intimidated

"May we ask a few questions about what happened?" Gregory asked

"Of course"

"Let's go somewhere more private" Gregory let the man lead the way into another room "if it is okay with you Agents Hotchner and Prentiss will stay to watch but will not be part of the interview"

"O-okay"

"Can you be certain that the man is Lincoln Campbell?"

"I have video footage but he was wearing a cap. I found that weird at first you know, we were inside, there is not much sun out at this time of the day, plus it's going to be cloudy"

"Did he present threatening at any moment?"

"No, I mean he did seem in a rush and got a bit angry when the machine was taking longer than usual"

"Did you see this woman with him" Analise showed the man a picture of Madelyn

When Madelyn and Lincoln arrived at the next stop they went straight to the motel. Madelyn made the check-in again. This time it was an old lady who was busy fighting over the phone. They got in the room and Madelyn when to shower while Lincoln stayed sit under strict orders from her. Soon they were outside at a little diner and Madelyn pulled out the phone and connected it to her computer. She made the call bounce off to Alaska, Mexico, Washington, and Brazil and then proceeded to make her call.

"Hello"

"Madelyn finally" this time Freddy's voice was heard

"I'm sorry I didn't call sooner. Are you two safe?"

"We are, I called Harper's school saying that she is sick too so they won't be asking questions or reporting a missing child"

"Ok good, we are on our way"

"What happened to Gideon? Why can't he come to get us?"

"It's a long story, he's okay, but we don't know where he is"

"How do you know he's okay?"

As Madelyn hung up the waitress came by. After they took their orders She left and Lincoln was finally able to breathe.

"It's going to be okay"

"How do you know that?" Lincoln said sounding more aggressive than he liked

Madelyn stayed quiet and then started looking out the window. Lincoln looked as well to see an old man yelling and fighting with a firefighter. The firefighter was completely quiet just looking at the man slightly smiling which made the old man angrier. Then the firefighter just walked away and the old man just stood there yelling without noticing that he was being pickpocketed by a 12-year-old. Then the table next to them called out to them.
