The music on the radio. Some Spanish song blared, it was the only Chanel with any signal.
The cold on the window. It was probably 8 degrees Celsius outside or that's what the crappy car said whatever that ment.
The growling in Lincoln's stomach. They hadn't eaten in what felt like years.
Suddenly they stopped. Madelyn opened her eyes just to see a small house. She looked back at Lincoln who just smiled and got off the car. Madelyn checked herself on the mirror. Red eyes and the trails of tears still marked her face. She tried to make it better until she saw who opened the house door for Lincoln. Freddy.
She got out of the car and ran inside hugging Freddy as hard as she could. He hugged her back hesitantly.
"It's nice to see you again" his voice, it sounded like a melody that had long been forgotten in Madelyn's mind.
"Ok, no need to get so sentimental Freddy" Lincoln laughed
Then there was her. The same timid brown eyes. The black hair which seemed like she had ent cut it since they last saw eachother, she went from Snow White to Ariel. The same sun kissed look.
"Harp"
"M"
The both hugged eachother like there was no tomorrow. Unfortunately there was. After a night of sleep and food, and fucking great shower, they started to pack. Harper was still with one eye closed while Madelyn was making coffee for the four of them.
"Seems like the old times" Harper said "avoiding school with you guys"
"Except back then it was middle school" Madelyn wasn't proud of it but back then Harper was her closest friend, with 13 years old
"She has the SAT's this year, this better be quick" Freddy complained, totally dad mode
"Come on Freddy, I'll take them my senior year, we gotta help"
"No, Freddy's right, last time it was inevitable, this time isn't, they know about Madelyn and me but they will not know about you" Madelyn hatted to admit it but it was very fucking hot to see Lincoln in this protective mode, still she was kind of back with Spencer, still eyes are single right?
"Come on! I have been tranining for this"
"No, you have been tranining in case someone found out, you haven't been compromised, plus you can't miss school, it will be suspicious, so only today"
"Ok miss profiler" Harper laughed
"That wasn't profiling"
"You know the system! Shit this will be much easier" Freddy said or almost chanted really
"No 'don't join the enemy' or 'traitor'"
"Not anymore! Who knew you joining the fudging FBI would help" the sutle not cursing cursing that he always did while Harper was around
Madelyn doesn't really know what to say, so she just laughs, and to her credit so do the others. She looks at Lincoln both of them realizing that giving up everything was worth it.

"So this is it? You want to fucking break up"
"We both knew it would come to this one day Madelyn" he came closer to her
Madelyn was in a Metálica shirt, Lincoln's shirt and some blue jeans. She had just come back from a psychology test, the last test of the semester. She remembered last year, a friend, Sybil. She wanted to break up with her boyfriend but decided to wait until after exam season, why? It was more human that way, for some reason. Lincoln of the other way had his final exam for anatomy in two days, Madelyn knew that because she memorized his calendar, fucking simp. Maybe he could wait for her but not him. Maybe he just wanted to get rid of her.
"Fuck no"
"You're saying no?"
"Yes, no, not after everything"
"You can't say no, I'm breaking up with you"
"No"
"Can't I say why"
"You fucking should"
"I-"
"I come in the fucking door and you tell me we are over, no 'how did you do in your exam' or 'was it too hard?' Just a cold fucking shit hard we are over bye fucking bye"
"We can't be contracted. Dating in collage, fine, but what comes next, living together? Marriage? It they know about one of us we will need the upper hand"
"They will know eventually, the ATCU has fucking great detectives, they will know eventually"
"Why give them a hand Maddie"
"So that's fucking it?"
"Yeah"
"No"
"You can't say no to a break up Maddie"
"Watch me, fucking no" Madelyn had just realized that she was crying, probably for a long time now because it was very had to talk"
"Maddie"
"No, I wanted to be a fucking architect, I'm going in the FBI for this, I will not give up you too"
"I'm sorry"
"No, it's not fucking fair" Madelyn breathed out heavily which only made her cry harder
Lincoln walked towards her and wrapped his arms around her, probably for the last time. It wouldn't be fair to blame this on Lincoln, deep down Madelyn agreed. And Lincoln had sacrificed as much as her, he never really wanted to become a doctor, CEO was more of his style, but they needed someone who was able to perform surgery in case they needed to stay out of the radar. It was just that he was better at compermatilization than she ever was.
