𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 week of school flew by in Serena's opinion, which she figured was the result of the piles upon piles of coursework she had to finish, in addition to studying for upcoming examinations. She supposed having so many assignments made the time go by faster, but nevertheless, the more hours she spent in the library, the more overwhelmed she felt. Serena's brain was so fried by the end of the week, she couldn't even remember what day it was when she woke up. Only when Neville reminded her that it was the weekend had she let out a sigh of relief.

"I really think they're trying to kill us this year." Serena told Neville Longbottom as the two headed down to the Great Hall for lunch that Saturday afternoon. Both students had accidentally slept through breakfast— also the result of the stress they felt from their heavy workload. Serena swore it was like the weight of the world was on her shoulders, and it didn't help that her fear of being deemed a failure added even more pressure on her.

Being friends with Ginny Weasley also meant that Serena has also grown close over the years with the herbology prodigy himself, Neville.

Flynn thought it was a bit strange that she's developed a friendship with Longbottom of all people— thinking the boy was quite awkward and eccentric, but she always reprimanded Flynn for his judgmental attitude and reminded him that it's not like his annoying Ravenclaw, quidditch-obsessed friends were much better company. She always tried to avoid Flynn's other Ravenclaw mates whenever he was around them, disliking how they would always make indecent jokes about either her looks or her "relationship" with Flynn. He would try to get them to shut up, but her best friend's pleads usually never worked.

"I know. Gran told me if I don't get high marks on my Potions examinations this year, she won't get me the mimbulus mimbletonia I've been asking for. And I honestly think I'm going to fail every single one of them at the rate I'm going." Neville admitted, stressfully running a hand through his brunet hair while he let out a frustrated sigh.

"Don't let your marks get that bad, Neville. Remember, you can always ask me for help when you need it. Even Gin's freakishly advanced in potions for her year, she's always willing to help out as well." Serena offered, and Neville sent her a small smile in return.

"I've tried going to Hermione in the past— but I don't know about asking her for anything right now. She's really worked up about that S.P.E.W thing. Have you noticed the little hats and socks she keeps knitting in the common room at night?" Neville joked, rummaging in his pocket to pull out one of the miniature articles of clothing he was referring to, along with his badge that had S.P.E.W written on it.

"Did you steal one?" Serena asked in-between laughter, grabbing the little blue hat out of his hand and examining it with a shocked smile.

"No, of course not! She offered to give it to me. I thought it'd look cool on my mimbulus mimbletonia! That is, if I ever get it of course." He responded wearily, Serena nodding in agreement.

"It would Neville, definitely."

The second the two Gryffindor students stepped foot in the Great Hall, Serena's body tensed up like bricks, sensing a pair of silver eyes on her. She glanced at the Slytherin table in the corner of her eye to discern Malfoy staring her way with the most sinister sneer on his face.

"What'd you do this time?" Neville asked humourously under his breath, also taking note of the blond boy's foul expression.

"I'm not even sure myself. We've barely even spoken to each other since the first day of classes." Serena admitted in a low voice, remembering how he used his wand to rudely pour her ink all over her and Flynn's essays by the tree. That was nearly an entire week ago— and he's yet to torment her all that much besides his usual witless cowardly lion insult. Instead, he just keeps angrily staring at her like a mad man.
