"𝙊𝙞, 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙!"
𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐀 𝐖𝐎𝐎𝐃 heard the voice of George Weasley call her from down in the noisy common room— or it could've been Fred, she honestly couldn't tell them apart by their voice. She stood up from the desk where she'd spent her entire Sunday studying, and confusedly strode down the stairs away from the relaxing atmosphere of her dormitory.
"Yes?" She timidly asked once she came down into common room, her eyebrows furrowing as she expectantly peered over at one of the Weasley twins standing by the exit. She observed that it was in fact George who called her name.
"You have a visitor."
"Who?" Serena asked, and George sent her a glance that told her 'do you really need me to tell you'. That's when she figured it was most likely Flynn who was waiting outside the entrance for her right before curfew.
The Ravenclaw boy was undoubtedly worried about Serena, considering she's stayed cooped up in her dormitory ever since Draco Malfoy bombarded her with his incessant Pansy snogging. She was physically and mentally terrified that she was going to be blinded by the repulsive sight again the second she stepped foot outside the comfort of the Gryffindor common room.
She was also positive that the next time she sees the blond, he's going to annoyingly boast over how wrong she was about his love life. Serena hated being wrong more than anything else, so she ultimately decided to avoid Malfoy entirely until she'd be forced to see him around the corridors and during classes again. Out of sight, out of mind.
Serena sighed before sauntering out of the common room, immediately meeting Flynn's analytical gaze.
"Are you okay? You haven't been showing up for meals." He directly questioned with utmost worry, keenly observing the expression on her face for any sign of distress.
"No! I'm fine, Flynn— Ginny has been bringing me food. I just haven't been feeling all that well so I've stayed in. I think I had one of those 24-hour illnesses or something."
She was shocked at how easily the lie just fell right off her tongue, and hoped that Flynn wouldn't be able to see through her. When he let out a sigh of relief, she came to the realisation that he did, in fact, wholeheartedly believe the fabrication.
"Okay— good. So are you still feeling sick? Have you gone to the hospital wing? Madam Pomfrey could give you some pepper-up potion—"
"I'm fine, truly. I promise," Serena interrupted, sending him a small smile before running her hand through her wavy hair. "Is that the only reason you came? What's the basket for?"
Serena just became aware of the wicker basket in Flynn's hand, surveying it with curious eyes. "It's actually a basket of sweets. The house elves made them for me in the kitchens. I brought them in case you were feeling down and—"
Flynn got interrupted yet again by Serena engulfing him in a tight embrace, and he was nearly shocked at the small girl's ability to squeeze him half to death. "You are the most amazing person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Thank you so much, I could never appreciate you enough,"
"Um, thank you? Have you gone soft on me, Wood?" Flynn joked, patting the shorter girl on the head when she let go of their hug.
"I'd never be soft for you, Everett." Serena winked and Flynn sent her a disgusted look, immediately pushing her away.
"Never say that again."

Serena's brain couldn't even fathom how they were able to get past Mr. Filch and Mrs. Norris completely unscathed. The caretaker and his cat were quite literally guarding the exit of Gryffindor tower with their lives, yet they didn't even spot the two students hurriedly heading for the double-doors leading to the outside of the castle.
