𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐇𝐎𝐖, 𝐌𝐂𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐋 found out about Serena drinking with Flynn at Gryffindor's celebratory party.
They have detention every Saturday at 8 in the morning, for ten weeks straight.
Yes.
Detention.
Every Saturday.
8 in the morning.
Ten weeks straight. Each Saturday, Professor McGonagall forces them to clean out dusty old broom sheds out by the quidditch pitch. Hours later, after they're finished cleaning, then they have to venture to the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest to gather different assortments of herbs, aiding in the expansion of Professor Sprout's already well-stocked closet.
Redundant, tedious tasks that left Serena's back aching at the end of the day and her sinuses running from the dust particles that itched and burned her nostrils. The scents of all the different herbs mixing together also gave her a pounding, relentless headache.
Serena was certain that Malfoy's fat, obnoxious mouth decided to tattle on her and Flynn to McGonagall about the drinking incident. Of course, when she confronted the blond arse about it, he feigned innocence and wouldn't break even under the threat of her wand against his chest.
When Serena recalled the way Malfoy's giant smug grin just kept growing the further she dug her wand into his flesh, it just made her blood boil even more.
"I know it was you, Malfoy. Stop acting so innocent!"
She chose to confront him once he was finished snogging Parkinson's face in-between classes, the Slytherin girl having swiftly left his side to go to her next subject. Serena's face was set in a deep sneer as she drove her wand in his chest even deeper, exactly where his heart pumped beneath.
"My innocence isn't an act, Wood. I did no such thing," He droned, holding his hands up in surrender as he held back a laugh threatening to leave his lips. "It was probably Theo that told McGonagall. He was there during your admittance of that secret,"
He placed his index finger on his chin, pretending as if he was contemplating something deep. "Hmm... speaking of Theo, I haven't been the only one that's noticed how inattentive he's been with you lately. It's as if he doesn't even care about you anymore. It must've been a shame to realise how easy you are to forget about."
Please, Serena was absolutely positive Malfoy was the reason behind Theo's sudden ghosting of her.
Not even a smile, wave, or glance was sent her way during potions, meals, or in the corridors between classes. Malfoy was correct; it was as if Theo forgot that she even existed.
But it didn't hurt her as much as he assumed it would. Serena had more important things to worry about than a boy that didn't care enough to give her the time of day anyway.
"It wasn't Theo that told McGonagall. He wouldn't ever do such a thing," She sneered, and he rolled his silver eyes at the way she blatantly came to Theo's defense. "You however, would. And have already prattled on me to other professors many times in the past, like the little ferret rodent that you are."
"Little ferret rodent, that's a new one. I like it," He hummed, the sound vibrating in his chest. It reverberated through her wand, the sensation tingling all the way up the nerves in her outstretched arm. "If you're going to hex me, why don't you just do it. Right now, I dare you." He taunted.
And when Serena went to do exactly as Malfoy said, motioning her wand up in the air to cast a stinging hex that she knew would hurt like hell, a low, angry voice cleared their throat and hissed her name from behind her.
Of course, Professor Snape was standing at her back, literally witnessing Serena motion her wand to hex Malfoy.
And her idiotic self didn't even realise he was there. But Malfoy did.
