The Sunset Ceremony

Astrid was nervous. Today at sunset she would be sealing her life with Battle-axe's. They would be mates and she would begin a transformation much like Hiccup's in order to have children with him in the future. She had no idea what to do, so she went to Hiccup.

"Hiccup what am I supposed to do, I have no idea how to do a bonding ritual or whatever it's called"

"It's called a Celestial Wedding, Toothless told me that, Astrid you don't have to know anything, it comes to you"

"should I do anything special?"

"If you want to dress up for him or something, you don't have to do anything specific"

"what if he does something special though?"

"then it's probably a nadder thing, like a ritual that happens only with their species"

"okay, I'll calm down a bit"

"good, now lets get you to the cliff-top"

"you must be thrilled axe, I felt lighter than air when I sealed my vows with Hiccup, he is my light"

"Astrid is strong willed and confident, as well as beautiful and strategic, I want nothing more than to be with her"

All the current inhabitants of the nest were gathered together. Shadow-mist had strategically placed her daughter Star near the front with Alic. Astrid was standing at the cliff as the sun was slowly going down behind her. Hiccup and Toothless sat together at the side. Battle-axe did a small aerial dance and landed in front of his intended with something in his jaw. He placed it upon her head to reveal that it was a veil he had made from precious stones and scales that he had recently shed. The light from both the sun and the moon illuminated them as had happened with Hiccup and Toothless as their vows came to them.

"Astrid, my skin, my mind, my mate, you are strong, independent, and thoughtful. I admit when I first met you I was inconsiderate of your situation and refused to fight you under any circumstances. Over time I fell in love with the girl who kept her heart hidden from everyone else"

"Battle-axe, my scales, my voice, my mate, you are the first person to know me better than any Vikings ever did. You listened to my problems and comforted me. You held me as I wept and helped me as I walked. I, Astrid Hofferson want nothing more than to be with you for eternity till we meet in Valhalla."

A light shone between them as the vows sealed. Hiccup and Toothless smiled at the new mates and nuzzled each other. during the ceremony Alic watched with wide eyes at the beauty of the scene, as Star blushed at the possibility of that being her future.

Everyone returned to their homes and roosts. Astrid now shared a comfortable roost with Battle-axe in a large cave, where the floor was covered a soft feeling soap stone.

Hiccup and Toothless also returned to their roost where the floor was covered in many soft animal furs, such as bears, deer, boar, and even buffalo. All of witch were hunted by Toothless. The light of the ceremony affected both couples in a certain way. As each returned to their nests the submissives of each pair looked hungrily at their dominant mates. There were going to have a long night.

Astrid looked at her mate in hunger and started to gently scratch from his head to base of his tail making him purr with excitement.
