"My queen, the boy is awake." Shimmer called from the base of the tower where the medical nest was. It had been two weeks since the boy and his dragon crash landed on the island. With the eggs growing inside of him, until they were ready to be laid, Hiccup grew bigger and bigger everyday.

"Good, I'll be up there in a moment." He said. Shimmer nodded and flew back up the tower.

"Would you like me to carry you, my love? I know your feet have been sore for the past few days." Toothless said, rubbing his head against Hiccup's growing belly.

"Thank you, Toothless. I appreciate that." From his throne, hiccup slid onto the back of a crouching Toothless and they went up the tower.

In The Medical Nest

Artemis grunted as he stood up again. He hobbled over to Orion and sat down in front of him.

"Orion, buddy. Are you okay?" he whispered.

"I am fine, young Artemis. Just momentarily blinded. What I want to know is, how are you? I understand you were badly injured." Orion's deep growl sounded concerned.

"It's nothing I can't handle, friend. I never got to thank you for saving me back there. Had it not been for you, I would be dead." Artemis responded.

"My king and queen, you are here." Talia said, screeching in delight.

Artemis grunted quietly as he stood and bowed.

"You must be the boy who crash landed here." Hiccup said.

"Y-yes, I apologize. We did not mean to land on occupied territory. If you would like, we can leave immediately."
"Why would we want you to leave? Stand up so that I may see your face."

Artemis stood, he saw a young man, not much older than he, on the back of a black dragon. He had scales scattered over his body and his stomach was distended.

"I-I'm sorry. I did not mean for it to sound like I was ungrateful." Artemis began scratching his scar.

"You have no reason to apologize, boy. Rest assured, we are not angry. Quite the contrary in fact." Toothless grunted.

"I-I.." Artemis stopped himself from apologizing again.

"What is your name?" Hiccup asked.

"Artemis?"

"Was that a question?" Hiccup asked.

"N-no, my name is Artemis." He responded.

"I see, and your friend?"

"O-otem."

"Good, we're getting somewhere. Talia, is he well enough to follow us out?"

"For a while, my queen. But I would like him back here in a few hours to redress his wound." The terror said.

"Very well, Atremis, follow us." Hiccup said. Toothless turned and they went down the tower. Artemis limped after them. It was beautiful outside. Birds were singing, the grass was green, flowers were blooming. On his home island, the only color that Artemis could ever see was shades of gray and small patches of muted green where the animals grazed. Here the world was actually alive with color.

"Now, Artemis. Could you tell me a little more about how you got yourself in the situation you were in."

Humiliated, Artemis could not bring himself to tell this stranger about his life. It would not only be painful, but there were also only so many hours in a day.

"I see it pains you to tell your story, It's alright. You do not have to explain yourself. Just know, you are safe now and you are welcome here. Let's go back inside, Toothless. I need a nap. Artemis feel free to stay out as long as you wish, just be sure to report back toTalia for your dressings."

"O-okay." Artemis said.

When the king and queen had left, Artemis headed to the small forest that bordered the west side of the island, He broke a small flexible branch from one of the trees and took out the spool of string that he grabbed from his house before he left for his 'training' session with his father. He took some string from the spool and wrapped some at the top of the branch, bent the branch and tightened the string and wrapped the rest of the string around the base of the branch. He then grabbed a few straight sticks and a few stray feathers and whittled the sticks to a point and attached the feathers to the other side of the sticks. Testing the newly made bow he stretched the string which bent the branch more but not to the point of it breaking. Then he grabbed one of his newly made arrows and targeted a tree on the far side of the forest. Knowing his aim would be true, he stretched his bow into the familiar stance he knew and closed his eyes and breathed out. When he opened them, he lined up his shot. He let go of the string and it shot the arrow through the trees, to his intended target. He got ready to fire another arrow. This time, his target was the original arrow. When he let go he watched his arrow follow the same path the original did. It hit the center of the original arrow and split it in half. Artemis sighed as he relished in the remains his mother left for him. She was the best archer in the village. She passed on that ability and knowledge to him. It was the only thought that made him happy anymore, except the ones about Orion.

Artemis sat on a cliff for the remainder of his time and made his way back to the medical nest. When he arrived, he found a large group in the center of the throne room. Nervous as he walked in, he scratched his scar. A young boy ran up to him.

"The queen is about to lay. We'll get to see the eggs soon." The boy said, excitedly.

"Tyr, be careful. That boy is injured, remember? We don't want to hurt him more." The blue night fury said.

"Hehe sorry mama, I'm just so excited. Up there, the queen is laying eggs. I didn't get to see the royal advisor's eggs because they hatched already."

"Well, just be mindful, child. Now come here, you look terribly cold." Tyr ran up to the blue night fury and she embraced him with her wings. His head poked out from below her chin moments later.

"I must say, It's quite exciting to know that I will have grandchildren soon. My babies could play with them when they get older." A woman said. She as well as the girl she sat beside had scales up and down her body.

"I personally can't wait for my own set of nestlings." The blonde said.

"Your body isn't quite ready for that step, but keep it up and you will be soon." The woman said, lightly elbowing the blonde.

Artemis sat down at the far end of a table that was seated a little ways away from the others.

A gold night fury bounded over, "Hey, everyone else is over here silly. Why don't you come join us?"

Nervous, Artemis scratched his scar and said, "Uh, maybe later. I-I just want to be alone for a bit."

"What, come on. Who wants to be alone? That's no fun."

"N-no, I'm good."

"Star, he says he wants to be alone, leave him be. Go to Alic and have fun over there." A rainbow colored night fury growled.

"I'm sorry about her. She gets excited sometimes and does things she probably shouldn't do."

"I-it's alright." Artemis said.

"Hey, if you need anything, just come to me, Shadow-mist. I'm here to help." She said.

"O-oh, okay." Artemis stuttered.

Suddenly, Talia the purple terror fluttered into the room.

"It's done, the king and queen have finally had heirs! Three little shimmery black eggs!" She shrieked.

Everyone cheered and danced. Artemis stood to discreetly go up to his temporary medical room. The world spun around him and he collapsed. Before he fell, someone caught him and everything went black.
