SARAH
Three Months Later...
I have been sitting with Becky at lunch. Sometimes Carter joins us, but he mostly sits with his friends on the other side of the cafeteria.
Classes started up again after winter break and mostly everything was okay. The investigation went cold, Soran is doing better mentally, he still has some nightmares, and Carter and I are doing well. Carter picks me up for school and drives me home most days. Soran got his own car and my parents let him drive it to school, so I always tell Carter I can ride with my brother. Carter says he doesn't mind and wants to drive me to school. There are some moments that I think we are more than friends, but that instantly goes away when Courtney's name pops up.
Yeah... Carter and Courtney are dating. After the night at the amusement park, Soran cut things off with her. He told me it was because he couldn't stand being around her when her brother was possessed.
My parents are getting the final touches done with the house. We are supposed to move in next week. They have worked really hard and all of the furniture came in last week. We have been slowly unpacking and the house should be done soon.
I am ready to move out of the cottage, the stay there was too long and I think moving into a new place will be good for us, even if it is just down the street. The johnsons' will be our neighbors. That means I get to see Carter more.
Becky is one of my classmates, she is a transfer too. She lived with her grandparents for a while south of us, but they couldn't take care of her anymore, so she moved here to live with her aunt and uncle. They are nice people, my family had theirs over for dinner a couple of times. We mostly do homework and study.
She works at the local coffee shop in town and that is where I get my coffee from. I drink coffee now. I never really did until I met her. I am thinking about getting a job there. I am turning sixteen in a few weeks and want to start working. I have never had a job before, but I know it will be good for me. Making money is something I want to do if I want to go to college.
Courtney doesn't talk to me or to Soran. She really went off the rails after James went to the hospital. She got into a fight with Soran and called him so many names and told him it was his fault for him getting into trouble. No one knows what happened that night, no one said a word except for Carter of course.
In all, we just said we found him laying on the ground and called for help right away. They asked about Carter's concussion, but we just said he slipped trying to get James off the ground. They bought the story, but I think they may have other concerns. That is why it is still under investigation but on hold.
James is still in a coma. He never came out of it and his parents refuse to pull the plug. I haven't been able to contact him and he hasn't contacted me. For weeks after Carter and I went to the hospital, I tried but got nothing. I started to think that my cure was gone and I couldn't talk to the dead.
The entity hasn't shown itself either which my mom says is a good thing, but I have other thoughts about that. The entity is smart and meticulous, it is probably waiting to strike. Or I just can't tell because my curse is gone, which at first I was kind of disappointed. It isn't though, I talked to a spirit a few different times these past few months and they were mostly okay.
Things are good now. I am happy to be here and am ready for the next part of my life.
"Hey, do you want to get some coffee and study after school?" Becky asks. School is about to end and we are walking to our lockers to put stuff away. "Yes, that sounds amazing."
I haven't made too many friends, only Becky. She has made a couple of friends, but they don't really talk to me. I tried talking to them and tried being friends, however, they are kind of stuck up. Sometimes when Becky and I are together we hang out with her friends, but I mostly keep to myself.
