We've been walking for quite a while now. My legs were starting to ache and my throat was becoming dry. The meadow was a lot longer than I originally thought. It feels like we've been walking for hours with the only sound being the wind rustling the tall dark grass. Maybe it really has been hours. We had no way of knowing. I had tried using my phone a few times but it had never worked. Either it had no battery left or it somehow broke during the fall despite it not even having a scratch on it. Wilbur's phone was already dead before we fell down here.
I looked up towards the large looming mountains in front of us. Earlier it was so far away it seemed like we would never reach it but now, we were almost at it. Maybe we had been walking for a really long time. We kept walking until we eventually reached another forest. This forest didn't look as dense as the one we had previously left. The trees here were close together and full of leaves but they weren't as big and tangled up together as the trees at the last one. The thought of entering it still made me a bit nervous after what happened last time.
"Maybe we should go around the forest," I suggested to Wilbur.
"There might be food or water in there," Wilbur replies.
"But what about the creatures?" The thought of running into more creatures made me uneasy.
"Aren't you hungry, Tommy?" Wilbur asks.
"No," I say stubbornly.
My stomach growls loudly. Wilbur smiles.
"Let's go," Wilbur says.
I curse my loud stomach and hesitantly follow Wilbur into the forest. We walk through the forest on what I think is a path except it looks like it hasn't been used in a very long time. It's also very quiet here except this time I think I can hear a faint noise. I can't tell exactly what it is but it seems to be some kind of hissing or growling noise. I think it might be getting louder but that could have just been me.
Suddenly, there was a loud piercing shriek. It was so loud that I thought whatever made the noise was right on top of us. I looked around but didn't see anything. Wilbur looked alarmed too.
"What was that?" I whisper.
Wilbur shushed me and pointed toward a glowing light coming from our right. We both looked at each other, eyes wide. I started backing away but Wilbur crept towards the light. I stood there for a moment and then followed him. We both ducked behind a bush and peeked out to see what was happening. In front of us was a yellow creature with black tentacles coming out of it. It was emitting a faint glow. Its black tentacles looked like it was trying to grab a hold of some other creature but I wasn't sure what it was. The other creature almost looked human-like except very distorted and it looked like it was... glitching out?
Me and Wilbur watched with horror for a minute before I couldn't take it anymore and backed away. Wilbur followed me. As soon as I was far enough away to know that it wouldn't hear us, We both started to run. We ran, trying to put as much distance between us and that... thing. After a few minutes, we stopped, both of us gasping for breath.
"What the heck was that thing!?" I exclaimed.
"It looked like that yellow monster was trying to kill the other one!" Wilbur said.
"I told you coming in here was a bad idea!" I spoke.
"Maybe but do you hear that?" Wilbur asks.
"What?" I respond and try to listen.
I can faintly hear what sounds like rushing water.
"Water!" Wilbur says and takes off towards the noise. I run after him. We reach a small stream. The water is dark and moving slowly. Wilbur leans down and lets the water run through his hands. He shudders and pulls his hand back. Confused, I crouch down and feel the water. It feels warm and murky. I quickly pull my hand back out.
"Maybe we shouldn't drink it," I say.
"I guess but what if it's the only water source around," Wilbur says frowning.
"It's probably better- GAH!" I yell out loud as a high pitched buzzing noise pierces my ears.
"WHAT IS MAKING THAT NOISE!?" Wilbur yells above the buzzing.
I scan the area but don't see anything in sight. We both glance at each other and stumble away from the stream, our hands over our ears. The buzzing doesn't stop though. It's as if it's following us, getting neither quieter nor louder. We both start walking faster until we're running. Suddenly, Wilbur gasps and screeches to a halt, his hands uncovering his ears. Surprised, I ram into him, and we both fall to the ground. I look up and see a hideous creature towering over us.
It had 4 short legs and a light green body. It had two black gaping holes for eyes and a huge hole in it's body. What stood out most though was it's exposed ribs that were like claws. The buzzing noise suddenly gets louder and louder. I think I screamed but I couldn't hear myself. Wilbur scooted away, got up, and started running. I got up too but branches clawed at my eyes and roots threatened to trip me as I tried to run. I slammed into something and fell to the ground. I looked up in horror as I watched the creature approach me.
The creature started to turn a blinding white. I covered my eyes, expecting the worse when someone grabbed my arm. They hauled me to my feet and dragged me away right as an ear-splitting boom rocked the air. Me and my savior were thrown to the ground. Everything is quiet once again. I sit up and rub my head. I blink and look towards where the creature was. In it's place was a deep black hole filled with rising smoke. I turn and look to see who had saved me and gasp.
The one who had saved me was wearing a light green shirt. It had some kind of skull covering his face and two small horns coming out from it's head. Even though the skull covered most of it's face, I could still see two light blue eyes looking back out at me.
"It's you. From the forest!" I say.
The creature nods.
"I've been following you." It says. I was surprised it could talk.
"Why?" I ask it.
"I've seen fallen people before but something about you is... different." It tells me.
"Different how?" I speak.
It shrugs.
"My name is Tommy. What's yours?" I say.
"Hi, Tommy. I'm Tubbo."
