Time continues to pass. I don't know how long I've been walking. All I know is that no matter what, I am always tired, hungry, thirsty, and unsafe. The dark creature I keep seeing just outside my vision appears more and for longer each time. I don't know if it's just some figment of my imagination, or if I should be really concerned. I have no idea what to do about it. If Tubbo were here, maybe he could help explain things but no, he's gone, and I'm all alone. Several times I've thought about blowing the horn but Puffy's warning keeps jumping into my head whenever I try to reach for it.
I've seen several creatures since I walked towards the mountain. They seem to get more and more plentiful the farther I walk. Most of them are those weird grotesque creeper things. They don't bother me if I don't get too close though. I've also seen a few more of those terrifying fairy things that chased me and Wilbur when we first arrived. Luckily, I've always managed to outrun them. I keep trying to get some sleep but knowing what could be lurking nearby, I never doze off for long. I'm just so glad I haven't run into those masked hunters again. As I continue walking toward the mountain that looms over me more, I started to notice a large black gaping hole in the side of the mountain. At first, I wasn't sure what it was but I soon started to realize it must have been the dire cave I have heard so much about.
Eventually, I reach the large rocky entrance to the cave. I peer into the darkness and shudder as I imagine what could be hiding in there. A low faint whistling noise comes from the dark abyss and I jump away. Was it worth it to go in there? Wilbur might not even be here. Puffy had said that he was heading this way. Not that he was actually here. I decide to explore the area surrounding the cave first. Even if I didn't find Wilbur, I might find something of use. I walk away from the cave and around the rocky cliffs of the mountain, making sure to stay well away in case the rocks were to suddenly give out and start a landslide.
In the distance, I can hear some kind of creature shrieking. Whatever is making that noise, it doesn't sound human. I decide to stay away from where the noise is coming from. As I wander, I stumble across some berry bushes. Most of the berries look dried up and inedible, but there were a few orange berries like the ones Tubbo had shared with me. I pick some of the ripe orange ones and examine them with a smile, thinking back to when I had Tubbo for company. He was a little strange, sure, but he was so nice to me. Nicer than anyone I had met down here. I pop them into my mouth and enjoy the flavor. It tasted surprisingly good.
Suddenly, I hear rustling in the trees to the left. I jump and prepare to run but don't see anything. Despite my instincts telling me to run, I slowly creep closer. Not too far is a strange light. It looked like it was coming from a campfire. Very, very slowly, I walk towards it, being very careful to not make too much noise. I arrive at what looks like a campsite. To the right is a small white tent. It looked old and torn, with huge gaping holes in the side and what looked like mold or moss on it. In the center of the cleaning, was a large bonfire. I looked around but didn't see anyone. I let out a small "Hello?" but nobody responds.
What if this was where Wilbur was? He could have set up camp here. If it was him, where did he go though? I thought it was a little too strange that there was no sign of life here other than the blazing fire. I move towards the tent and peer inside. A sleeping bag was ripped up off to the side. In the middle of the tent, was a large chest. I approach the chest and open it slowly, cringing at the loud creaks of the hinges as it opened. There was nothing inside other than some cobwebs and a large stick. I grab the stick and turn it over. It looked just like a normal stick you could find in the forest other than the small symbols carved in.
I move the stick closer to my face and try to make sense of the symbols but they just looked like random pictures to me. I shake my head and was about to put the stick back and close the chest when I heard a large crack outside the tent. I jump up and whip around, expecting some kind of horrible thing to be standing behind me but there's nothing. I had a very bad feeling about this. The tent looked old and abandoned but if that were true, who started the fire? I knew I should get out of here. I quickly crept out of the tent, looking left and right as I move past the fire.
