𝐇𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢 x Reader || 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆

XIV.

The briefing for our mission was fairly simple. All we had to do was scout the far outskirts of the forest. The village had received some information about the akatsuki and considering Naruto is a jinchuriki it would make him a target.

It made no sense however to bring Naruto with him especially if he is indeed a target, he would be making it easier for them, but Lord the 3rd insisted.

You were kind of brushing off everything he had said, you were too caught up in your own thoughts to really listen or care what was being said.

Minutes has gone by and you had taken off ahead of the group, already beginning to scout the area.

It didn't seem like anyone was near, however it was kind of interesting how Lord the 3rd sent us instead of people from the anbu if it poses such a threat to the village. Again you just brushed it off.

At this point you were far ahead from the group, they had probably already started splitting up to search the area though.

While walking through the almost never-ending forest, something began to feel off. You decided to keep your guard up. It was as if you were being watched. Using your chakra, you walk up the side of a tree and stop at a branch that allows you to see just above the treetops.

Looking to the horizon, you notice a crow flying around. Suddenly you began feeling uneasy and hastily jump back down for cover.

As you make your way through the forest, your emotions became heightened. You were becoming more visibly anxious. Something or maybe even someone was definitely watching you.

You make a brief stop to pull something out of your satchel when you are met with a sharp pain in your back, sending you down into the dirt.

Grasping your chest in pain, you turn to see the cause of the attack and see two men in long black cloaks with red clouds on them. One, a fish-looking guy, the other, had black hair and black eyes. You study him why sitting on the floor holding your chest in pain. He looked familiar but you couldn't quite pinpoint from what or where.

But then it finally hits you and your eyes widen.

"Itachi?" You were in utter shock, your little brother was apart of the akatsuki.

Itachi doesn't reply, but in return he gets a look from the man next to him.

"You know, Sasuke is out to get you. He wants revenge. He wants to kill you." You speak, still in disbelief that the boy who was so sweet in the time you had taken care of him, turned into a serial killer in a single night, and on top of that joined the akatsuki.

"He could not kill me now even if he tried, he isn't strong enough" Itachi speaks, scoffing slightly.

"What happened to you Itachi?" You say getting up from the ground. The fish guy next to Itachi eyes you, ready to attack if you tried anything funny.

"That is for you to find out" You let out a sigh, clearly not getting anywhere with this.

Still gripping onto your chest, you look around the area trying to sense the rest of the team's chakra, however, it was very faint. If anything your only hope would be Kakashi sensing Itachi and his fishy friend.

"I am surprised to still see that you are alive. Considering you disappeared so young, honestly I kind of forgot you existed." As much as you really hated to admit it, it kinda hurt hearing him say such things considering how close we were when he was young.

"What are you doing here Itachi? What are you planning? This isn't like you." You kind of doubt yourself while saying this. The last time you even saw him was when he was 7, and now he is at least 18. A lot of time has gone by since then, 11 years.

"Isn't like me?" He looks up to the sky, "I was nothing but a child the last time you saw me, you really think that things would not have changed since then?" With a sigh you look down. He was right, how could you have expected him to still be the sweet little boy you once had taken care of.

"So are we going to continue or am I going to have to sit through this little family reunion?" The fish man pulls out his sword and points it towards me, however, Itachi holds a hand up to him and stops him.

"Not now Kisame, we have some unwanted company. I'd rather not let Sasuke see me here now. He is not ready after all." The fish man huffs and looks to me as you stand up.

"You are lucky, girl. If I could I would kill you in an instant." He growls.

"That won't be necessary, although we will be keeping an eye on you. So don't go mentioning our little run-in with anyone or someone will get hurt. Until next time, Sis." And with that fish guy and Itachi flicker away.

You sit back down on the floor as you slowly process and analyze everything that took place. A few moments later Kakashi, Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke arrive to my position.

"(Y/N) Sensei are you okay?" Naruto and Sakura ask in unison.

Remembering you cannot tell of what just happened you make up a quick little lie. "Yes, I am okay, just got a little dizzy I suppose"

"Well if that is the case we should head on back to the village and get you checked out" says Kakashi, his grey eye locking with your (e/c) ones.

"No I am fine, really" you start, but with no prevail, Kakashi insists.

"You look really pale (Y/N) it is really best for you to get checked out. Especially if you were getting dizzy." Worry was definitely laced within his words. Sasuke definitely seemed to pick up on it bcz he shot you a certain look and you just scoff softly at him.

Sighing softly and giving a little nod, since at this point, you didn't have a choice, he and Sasuke appear at you side to help lift you off the ground.

You didn't feel right lying about something like this but you did not have much of a choice. And if you are being kept on surveillance by Itachi and fish man, you really did not want to risk it. And with that, they help you back to the village and take you to the hospital for check up.

hiii omg i am so sorry it has been almost 2 months since i have updated so i deeply apologize for that. work has been super stressful and draining so i haven't really felt like writing, butttt i finally found some time and wanted to write 😭😭

hopefully ill be able to update more often for you guys, i say this everytime but im rlllly trying lol . also pls disregard any typos since it is 5 am as i am wrapping this up and i haven't gotten a blink of sleep 😦 but anyways
