"So anyway" Dylan panted jogging along side me up to the pitch, "they will judge your skill then hopefully give you a spot on first line, other wise you'll be stuck on the bench with-" he stopped, letting his eyes wander to the bleachers. I followed his gaze, a strawberry blonde girl strutted up the seats. I heard Dylan gulp.

"Who's that?" I asked

"L-Lydia Roden" he stuttered. "Or some sort of angel but I'm not sure" I looked back at the girl but someone else caught my eye.

Her skin was pale and she had a wave of dark brown hair which flowed in the wind softly, her eyes were a beautiful, deep hazel. I could of gone on forever about her mesmerising features but Dylan slapped me on the back.

"Dude, you've been here all of five minutes and your already head over heals for Allison Argent!" He gave me a goofy look and I shook my head quickly.

"I don't get head. Over. Heels" I emphasised on what he said, "for anybody!"

Dylan started to make a comeback but the coach blew his whistle. I gave a quick glance back over to Allison, she was having a conversation with Lydia but she caught me looking and flashed an innocent smile, I felt my knees go weak but I tried to ignore the feeling and turned to the team.

"Who's this?" Said the coach and everyone's eyes landed on me.

"Scott..." I mumbled.

"Well... Scott, you look like you could be worth it" he grumbled before blowing his whistle again. "All right! Back to business! Toby take a long stick!"

A tall, serious looking blonde guy stepped through the crowd and sent shivers down my spine. He gave me a competing smirk, I don't like this guy... I don't know him but I still don't like him. He picked up a defenders stick and walked down the field towards the goal.

"Coach?" Said a familiar voice.

"What Dylan?" Growled coach and Dylan gave him a ear to ear smile. He sighed angrily "yes you can join in!"

Dylan jumped in the air with a whoop and went silent when he got a dirty look from the team. He shuffled over to me.

"I'll impress Lydia, you impress Allison" he whispered. I raised my eyebrows at him and he raised his right back.

Coach blew the whistle one last time and we ran over into a line. I turned over to the bleachers again, Allison was still there, sitting next to Lydia who was examining her nails. Impress her... Impress her... Impr-"

Dylan cut me off, "Dude, you're up"

I stepped forward and scooped up the ball. Toby was in front of me, his eyes narrowed as they met mine. It clicked, I knew what I didn't like about him, he was living in the fantasy that high school is the only thing that mattered, he must think that this place is a never ending kingdom!

In that split second I was sprinting towards the goal, I didn't want to hurt Toby that much so I decided to avoid him all together. I pulled my arm back and threw the ball high in the air so it went above Toby's head, my body twisted around his and before he could stop me I was past him. The ball fell from the sky as planned and dropped in my stick before I flung it in the goal.

There was a momentary silence, then the audience cracked into screams and shouts. I felt hard hands slap my back in applause.

"New Boy!" Shouted the coach, I jogged over. "What... Was that?"

"I- I used to play lacrosse at my old school" I stuttered.

"That was probably the most disturbingly skilful shot I have ever seen as a teacher" he laughed, "are you sure I'm not just hallucinating"

I looked round, "no..."

The middle aged man threw his fist into the air and started scribbling down something on his clipboard.

"I want you on first line, and I want you on it now" he shouted.

"I don't th-"

"Someone get this guy a numbered and named jersey"
