Allison's POV

I rebounded off the body but before I could fall two large oddly familiar hands steadied me on the pavement.

"Allison?" Mr Adams smiled curiously and tilted his head to the side, looking past her at my friends, "Dylan? What are you kids doing so far from home?"

"W-we uhhh" I stammered, but could come up with nothing as Scott's father's eyebrow raised higher and higher.

"I have an appointment" Lydia butted in, holding out her hand and grabbing his for a confident shake, "Lydia Martin"

"Ah, Miss Martin, my son mentioned you once or twice, I hear you're quite the star of the school" he chuckled deeply.

"That's me" Lydia flicked her hair over her shoulder, "My appointment is in room 105, do you know how to get there?" I noted she'd used the number of the door next to the one we needed, instantly thanking god that I'd forced her on this expedition, "We're in a hurry"

"You have an appointment in 105?" Mr Adams said slowly, "Dr Martinez is an obstetrician..."

Dylan looked at me questioningly but I shrugged, Lydia chocked on her words slightly though before blushing with embarrassment.

"Ummm yeah!" She shrilled nervously and reached behind her blindly, grabbing the scruff of Dylan's washed out Nirvana t-shirt and pulling him beside her with a jerk, "Me and Dylan are having a small pregnancy scare, you know how it is, better safe than sorry!"

I covered my mouth with three fingers and held in a giggle and Dylan's eyes widened as if Lydia has actually told him he was going to be a father.

"Shoulda taken all that stuff in health class seriously" he laughed, but he looked as if he was going to pass out while Mr Adams stared at them with a mixture of surprise, worry, and confusion.

Lydia sensed the awkwardness radiating off the two men and rolled her eyes before leaning up on her tip toes to plant a quick peck on Dylan's burning cheeks, watching him instantly melt before her own eyes.

"Like I said, simply better safe than sorry. Directions please?" She smiled sweetly and I nodded, trying to mimic her confidence.

"Sure... Take the lift to level three, when you get out go right and it should be the fourth door down" he mummered.

"Thanks Mr Adams" she replied instantly and practically threw Dylan in the building with her.

"Is she okay?" He asked me before I could pursue them.

"Oh! Lydia? She's completely fine, gets a stomach bug or doesn't get a good night's sleep, instantly thinks it's pregnancy. It's her way" I laughed nervously.

"I see" he nodded, still looking slightly confused and bewildered. Then his face changed to a different, more gloomy state as if that was his natural expression. I knew it wasn't though, "I'll see you around town sometime then Allison"

"Wait, is everything okay with you?" I stopped him, ignoring Lydia beckoning me through the glass door.

"Small problems here and there, you haven't been visiting lately" he said solemnly, "I assume from Scott's behaviour you two aren't talking anymore"

I bit my lip and rubbed his forearm, "We're working on everything, he'll be okay"

"I choose to believe that but that boy..." he sighed and shrugged instead of finishing his sentence, "Never you mind, he's been worse than this. He's just a boy, influence is all around him... Stop by the house at some point though, I'm sure Scott would appreciate it"
