Warm water trickled down your scalp as you gently massaged shampoo into it. Your tense muscles relaxed as the pressure of droplets hit your skin and soothed your stiff body.

As you stood in the shower, you indulged in the soothing atmosphere the water provided. You released a deep sigh as your eyes closed in contentment.

The lovely smell of lavender consumed your hair as you rinsed the scented shampoo out of it. Once you were done, you lathered matching lavender conditioner into your hair, along with lavender body wash all over your skin.

Claire was kind enough to buy you some bathing essentials since you, while rushing, forgot to pack those along with you. And of course, they were all Claire's favorite scent, lavender.

'No wonder she always smells so good.'  You thought to yourself. Looking back on it, you could never recall a single moment where she smelled bad. You actually remember her telling you once that she would rather "cut off her own foot then step out of the house smelling like something that crawled out the trash".

As dramatic as it was, you couldn't expect anything less coming from Claire. This was the same woman who kept emergency earrings at work in case she forgot to bring some. She was glamorous and elegant and absolutely stunning. Despite being in her early 40s, she always had this youthful essence about her. She was independent and strong. Claire was everything you aspired to be at her age. She truly was like a mother figure to you since you lost yours at such an early age.

Your thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the voice of that same woman you were just thinking about. "Y/n! Hurry the hell up, my water bill ain't cheap you know!"

After about another minute of standing in the shower, savoring the warm water, you reluctantly turned it off. You quickly rapped a towel around you, the cold air giving you shivers. Once you were dry, you quickly changed into a big t-shirt with your favorite jeans. Your hair was still a drenched mess, but it had the fragrance of lavender, so who could complain right?

Once you stepped outside the bathroom, you walked to the kitchen to see a sight you only saw in movies. There sat Elena and Claire's two sons at the dining table, talking and laughing while eating breakfast. It looked like the type of family's that were always happy and didn't have a care in the world. You unconsciously smiled at the scene and took a seat next to your sister.

"Geez kid, you alright? I thought you drowned in there." Claire ruffled your hair as she placed down a plate in front of you.

"Ha. It'll take a lot more than that to get rid of me Claire bear." You quickly snatched a bacon from your plate and munched on it thoroughly. Jason passed you the salt shaker for your eggs to which you thanked him.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me that." Your manager rolled her eyes to which you and Jason laughed at. Sitting down across from you, Claire claimed her seat with a plate in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. "So, how's apartment hunting going?" She stirred her cup with a tiny spoon.

"Well I haven't been successful yet. But I'm gonna see one today, so maybe I'll have better luck." You took a bite of your buttered toast, the crumbs falling onto your mouth.

"You've seen pictures of it right? How's it lookin?"

"Oh it's a total piece of shit but it's in our budget so, can't be too picky right?" You took a sip of your apple juice as Claire's smile faded.

"Y'know I could help if you stopped being so stubborn. Could give you a few hundred bucks to help with rent for a little bit." Claire offered for the tenth time that week. She was too generous for her own good sometimes.
