chapter 11- back to the real world

"Ha! You can't actually be serious!" Leo snickered as you grinned ear to ear.

"I'm serious! I've never seen Raph so scared in my life." You attempted to suppress a cackle as best as you could as you looked Leonardo in the eye.

"So you're telling me, Raphael is afraid of cockroaches?"

"Oh he's absolutely terrified of them." You toppled over in laughter when he pulled out his T-phone and showed you a video of the hot head screaming with the most high pitched voice you had ever heard. "Mikey begged Donnie for a whole hour to send us this video. Raph has no idea." You held your side, finally sitting up from the floor once you calmed down.

"Oh my god my stomach hurts. You have to send me that video." He chuckled as you wiped a tear from your eye.

The two of you have been sitting on the living room floor for a while now. It was late and the boys had returned from their nightly patrol hours ago and you were still up by the time they got back. The leader in blue decided to stay up with you while everyone else retreated to their rooms.

This small act made you feel funny.

If you were being honest, recently a bunch of small acts the ninja did made you feel funny. Like when he'd randomly check up on you to make sure you've eaten, or when he randomly complimented you on the smallest things you were sure no one else noticed.

You knew what you were feeling by now, you weren't that naive not to. But you were just too stubborn to admit to yourself that you had the tiniest crush on Leo.

Your relationship was nice as it was, there was no need to change it. Besides, you were pretty sure those feelings would be gone soon anyway. But until then, all you had to do was avoid putting yourself in any situation where those feelings might threaten to show. Sounds easy enough.

You both were just sitting there eating your favorite ice cream, talking about anything and everything together. He was telling you all about his extraordinary life, and you were telling him all about your ordinary one. Well, all except the bad stuff.

Tomorrow you had to go back to your daily job at the pizzeria, and you really didn't want to. So, here you were, eating ice cream with your favorite mutant in attempt to stay up later so tomorrow would seem farther away.

You picked up your phone and stared at the home screen, the time reading '3:48 a.m.'.

You sighed and took a spoonful of ice cream in your mouth as you mumbled incoherent words to yourself.

"Excited for work?" Leo asked with a tilt of his head. You scoffed as you continued to eat the cold dessert.

"Pfft, hardly."

"Really? How come?"

You suddenly laid on your back as you threw your arms over your eyes. "I just don't want to go back, I want to be lazy."

Leonardo laughed as you whined like a child. You slowly removed your limbs from your face to look up and see his carefree face and the prettiest smile you had ever laid your eyes on.

'Shit, when did I become such a sap?'

He opened his eyes and looked down at you, giving you such a sweet look that you swore you would've gotten a cavity from it if you stared any longer.

You broke eye contact after a second, sitting up and stretching your arms behind your head. You turned over to look at him once more, seeing ice cream on the corner of his lips.

"Geez Leo, I never knew you were such a messy eater." You laughed.

"Hm? Is there ice cream on my face?" You nodded. "Ugh, I swear this only ever happens when I eat in front of you." You rose a brow in amusement.
