I was given my uniform to wear the next week. Mom wasn't sure whether to be proud of me or not. She ended up saying nothing. I couldn't blame her. Should she really be proud of her son for bringing in the family income this way?
My uniform was white trousers and a white shirt. It was so weird and strange. It was fresh and clean but the feel was weird on my skin. I hated it but I knew I would have to wear it if I wanted to get near Mary again.
I was also given a name card. The employee's card will get you into any of the automatic locked doors and straight through the entrances and exits without having the car checked for any escapees. That was pretty awesome.
My job roles in Depth was mainly cleaning. Each patient got taken out once every day for more treatment. The treatment was done in the rooms. I never knew what happened in there but each patient came out in a gurney and looking as if they had been tortured. It was awful and I was grateful for being blissfully unaware of what happened in those rooms. All I had to know was where the cleaning equipment was and which patient had left the room. I was supervised at first by a nurse who had the key to each door. It was the same key for every patient's room. I wouldn't be allowed it until they could trust me with it. My secret job was to gain their trust. I knew it wouldn't be easy but I was determined and I would do it to the best of my abilities.
