I went downstairs with Mary. She was a lot better nowadays but she still had high fevers and cold shivers. She ate more too now and was putting on some more weight which was good.

Robert had a black car parked in front of the main entrance to the hotel. The windows were a dark tint as well.

Mary and I got in the back seat. As soon as the car door was shut, Robert drove off. His speed was so quick that the scenery flashed by too quick for me to register it.

It didn't seem real that someone was meant to be chasing us. I sat tense through most of the journey. However as the sun started to set, I couldn't help starting to relax. Mary and Robert stayed tense throughout. The sun slipped further down the sky and I couldn't stop my eyes from closing and allowing me to drift off to sleep.

There was a sudden bang and the back end of the car swerved to the left. The sudden movement shocked me awake.

"What the fuck was that?" I gasped. Robert hit the brakes and the car suddenly stopped and Mary and I were thrown forwards before being pulled backwards by our seat belts. Something was thrown forwards too. They landed paces away from the front of the car.

"Get out." Robert ordered us in a whisper. I undid my seat belt. Mary and I tumbled out of the car. Robert got out in a more smooth way. Mary walked over to me. I placed one of my arms around her protectively.

The thing that had been thrown forwards had landed in a crouch on the ground. He was looking over towards Mary. He was exceptionally good-looking with red piercing eyes and blonde straw colored hair.

"Why are you here, James?" The man straightened up. It was only then that I noticed he was barefoot.

"You know why I'm here. I want her. Her blood calls to me."

"She's mine."

"Only because you took her in, it doesn't mean she is yours!" James snarled. He was slowly taking small steps forward. As he moved forwards, Robert moved backwards towards us.

"She's mine. Her blood calls for me too." Suddenly Robert flitted. It was quick but I felt myself being pushed gently to one side and suddenly Mary was in Robert's arms, her throat exposed to his mouth.

"You wouldn't!" He growled. I shouted out no but it was too late. There was a flash of white teeth and suddenly his teeth was deep in Mary's throat. She didn't even respond. I had been told that the venom was excruciating and incapacitating but Mary didn't react.

Once she had been bit, Robert dropped her and she fell into my arms. James growled in rage and ran towards ME. Robert caught him and they started to fight.

"GET OUT OF HERE, JASPER!" Robert shouted. I obeyed, putting Mary in the back seat and getting in the driver's seat. I drove off without a moment's hesitation but I did feel regret as I drove into the night as Robert was murdered and burnt.
