The house was dark and I barely knew my way around. I wasn't thinking straight and I knew my idea was dangerous. Every alarm my brain sent, instructing me to run back to my room was ignored.

Instead, I kept going down the dark hallway. The rooms on my floor were empty so I decided to investigate the other floors. I wasn't even sure if Avi was staying at the house but I needed to know.

I needed to know if that was really him. I needed to know if he had been following me. I froze when I saw a light coming from a bedroom that wasn't ever in use.

I slowly walked towards it. The door was wide open so the light from the room spilled to outside the room. My bare feet were cold against the marble floor as I carefully took small steps towards the room.

I didn't know what I was going to say nor did I know how he was going to react but I kept walking towards the room. I stood at the doorway of the well-lit room.

I took in a deep breath before I stepped inside, realising that it was empty. There was a suitcase in the middle of the bed that had clothes spilling out of it.

It looked as if someone had rummaged through it. The shirt that I had seen Avi wear earlier in the day was seen carelessly thrown onto the floor.

My gaze fell onto a figure standing in the balcony. The tinted doors of the balcony were shut so I couldn't get a clear view but I could tell that it was Avi.

Come on Payal! I thought to myself. I pushed myself and made my way over to the doors. My pace was quicker than before and I was determined to get answers.

I pushed the doors open and immediately froze when I realised he wasn't alone. "Payal?" Aryan asked. He was sitting on the ledge at the side so I didn't see him earlier.

He only had his grey sweatpants on him and a lit cigarette resting between his fingers. His abs were on full display which were distracting as always.

"What's wrong?" He asked with concern. He pushed himself off the ledge and stood before me. I looked over at Avi who stared back at me with an expressionless face.

I couldn't read his mind at all and it was almost as if he didn't want me to either. Aryan looked between Avi and I. "Why're you here?" He asked, this time in a stricter tone.

"I thought there was an intruder" I lied. "Intruder?" Aryan asked with soft smirk. "Yeah I saw a light and this room isn't used by anyone so I thought–"

"Hold up so you thought there was an intruder and instead of informing someone you decided it was a good idea to confront him?" I didn't know what to say.

"Yeah a stupid idea" I said softly. "Okay Avi is not an intruder...he's family" My eyes shot up when Aryan introduced him as his family. "He's like my brother" He said.

I looked over at Avi and this time he had a smile on his face. "Whenever he comes over, he stays in this room so don't be alarmed" Aryan informed me.

"Oh and Avi this is Payal...AbRam's nanny" Avi gave me a slight nod. I just looked him up and down before removing my gaze from him.

"I'm beat you get some rest okay?" Aryan told Avi who just nodded. "Yeah I'll see you in the morning" Aryan took his last puff and put out his cigarette on the ledge of the balcony.

"Come on" Aryan told me as he walked out of the balcony. I looked over at Avi one last time before I left. He took a puff from his cigarette and blew out smoke with a blank face.

I followed Aryan out of Avi's bedroom. My mind still had a thousand thoughts running through them. I didn't even realise where I was walking.

I just kept following Aryan and when I finally looked up, I realised we were standing outside his room. He opened the door and let me into his bedroom.

"So why were you in his room?" He asked as he entered his walk-in closet. "I told you...intruder" My voice shook and I immediately regretted opening my mouth.

I knew Aryan could tell I was lying. I was just hoping he would let it go. "Really? You expect me to believe that?" Aryan came back into the bedroom with a white t-shirt in his hand.

"Tell me the real reason" He demanded. "I just wanted to know who he is" I blurted out. Aryan just nodded. "Okay" was all he said.

"Here wear this" He handed me the t-shirt he had in his hand. "Why?" I asked. "Because I said so" He simply said.

His voice had a hint of anger in it so I simply changed without further questions. "Come here" He demanded. I slid into bed, ready to sleep next to him for extra cash.

There were so many aspects of my life that I couldn't understand and this was one of them. I didn't understand why he was doing this but I didn't care as long as I got paid.

"Like last time–" I was cut off by his lips. I kissed him back immediately and melted into his arms. We didn't talk all night. I don't remember when we fell asleep while kissing.

The next morning, while I was helping out in the kitchen, Avi walked in while I was alone. I ignored his presence until he said, "It's been a while. Did you get my gift?"
