Chapter Twenty Six: Hand in Hand

I couldn't find anymore blankets, duvets. Nothing. I had nothing to get back up there.

All i could think of was a chair tower, but there was a risk i would get hurt. That's the purpose of the rope. No doubt if i used the chairs, i'd hurt my ankle or something else.

But Eddie had ran, i wondered if he was okay so i did whatever i could and just decided to go for the idea of the chairs.

I stacked two chairs and started to climb them. I could feel the air of the upside down hit me, i was holding onto both sides of the gate, and then the two chairs crashed down and i let out a grunt of pain.

I made it back into the upside down, i held my foot for a second, it was already badly bruised and cut. Maybe even broken.

But i got myself straight up again and left the trailer and started looking for Eddie. I could see the swarm of bats in the distance.

"Eddie!" I called. "Eddie please- are you over there?!" I shouted even louder. I could see him fighting all of the bats.

My eyes widened knowing he was still alive. In that short amount of time i thought i had lost him.

"Eddie oh thank god!" I shouted, and then he saw me. Still he was fighting.

I began fighting with him, the ankle killing me.

"Sam what are you doing back here?!"

"I-" I said, grunting in pain whilst hitting the bats. "I couldn't leave you here on your own. I said to you i'd stay by your side."

"It's not safe for you to be here, you're hurt."

"If it's not safe for me- it's not safe for you."

"I- Ah-" I grunted, as a bat came and bit me from behind. As i stopped fighting, to try and get it off of me, another one came in front and got me.

"Sam!" Eddie shouted, and started hitting the bats on me to try and get them off, but then it seemed a bat came towards him as well.

I fell to the floor bleeding in pain. As my vision started to go blurry, i could only think about Eddie.

I just about saw him fall to the floor, and the bats were all gone. He very slowly made his way to me and i did my best to try and get to him.

"Eddie- i-" I said, hardly getting any of my words out. "I know we are gonna- d- die so i- i want to tell you- you that i- i love you Eddie.." I said, taking breaks as the pain kicked me more and more.

"I love you too, i always- have. Sam- we are gonna get through thi- this- we have that movie remember?"

A small smile appeared on my face, as well as tears fell. I reached my hand out to grab Eddie's.

I had spent a lot of my time alive the past week, protecting Eddie. Making sure Eddie was okay. Now we were dying together.

But it only made me realise how much i cared for him. I didn't let him do anything bad without me.

Here we were, hand in hand bleeding out.

"I love you so much Eddie." I said, breathing heavily.

"We didn't run away this time, right? I think it's finally our year, Sam. Finally our year..." He said, sobbing. "I love you, Sam."

"No... we didn't. We didn't run."

My eyes closed.

Steve Pov

Nancy had shot Vecna out of the window. He went flying. That son of a bitch deserved it.

"Quick, let's go finish him." Nancy said, and ran down the stairs with me and Robin following behind.

He was gone.

"Dustin?! Did you see him go?!" Robin asked.

"Guys- no- i didn't see anything- he's gone for now can we just go? i haven't heard from anyone." Dustin said.

We all went back to Eddie's trailer. They went inside, but i couldn't help but notice something in the distance. It looked like people were laying on the floor.

"Guys! Guys! Guys?!" I called.

"What is it Steve?" Nancy asked.

"What is that over there..?"

"It's probably nothing can we just go?!" Dustin said.

"I get you're scared Henderson but that might be someone." I said.

"What are we waiting here for? Let's go and see." Robin said.

"Crap..." I muttered under my breath, shocked.

"Sam? Samantha!" Nancy started to panic, kneeling down by her sisters side. Not long after, she started crying.

Sam and Eddie were just lying there, hand in hand, most likely dead.

Dustin was kneeled next to Eddie, crying his eyes out. I felt like crying, but i was too empty to do so.

Sam and Eddie weren't that close to me, but i was still hurt and felt like a part of me had died. It would be the same with everyone else.

All of a sudden, we all heard four chimes go off from the house.

"Max.." Robin said.

I alerted my attention to her, knowing we had to go.

"Nance, Dustin buddy.. we have to go-" I said.

"I'm not leaving her here!" Nancy cried.

"And i'm not going anywhere without him." Dustin also cried.
