Chapter Twenty Nine: The New Normal

Samantha (Sam) POV

It felt so weird. I thought Eddie and I had died. We said our goodbyes and everything. Now i was in my room with Eddie. He set me down on the bed and then sat himself next to me.

"So.." I said awkwardly trying to start a conversation. "I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"Ruining the friendship, i mean, now everything is completely ruined and it's all going to be awkward- i.."

"Sam, please. It didn't ruin the friendship. I said it back to you. I love you,"

"Do you really or are you just-"

"Yes really! I love you! You're my best friend, i didn't want to tell you that because it would ruin it all. I love how protective you are of me, you ran back for me."

"I love you too. I love everything about you." I said, and we both leaned in slowly.

I shut my eyes, and connected my lips with his. I held the back of his head to deepen the kiss. It felt like a dream.

Never ever did i think that this would happen in my lifetime. I was kissing Eddie Munson. He broke the kiss after a few minutes.

"So, Sam Wheeler. What does this mean? Do you wanna be mine?" He smiled.

I couldn't help but let out a chuckle.

"Sorry, that sounded so cringe." I laughed.

He hit my arm playfully. Luckily the bat bite was on my other arm.

"How else am i supposed to word it?!" He laughed back.

"Yes Eddie, i'll 'be yours'." I laughed and leaned back in for another passionate long kiss with him.

Eddie Munson was my boyfriend.

"Shall we go outside and explore the damage?"

"Are you sure that's okay for your foot, you hurt it quite bad."

"I'm not a pussy. I can do it."

"If you're sure, then. Yeah."

We both got into Eddie's van. We drove around the town looking at everything. The town was deserted, lonely and broken.

"How on earth did they manage to convince people this was an earthquake?" I asked, shocked.

"I know. The people in this town are so gullible."

"I thought we died, when we you know.. got bitten alive all over."

"So did i. I mean, at least we are gonna have some sick scars to show our kids now. With a sick story behind them. We fought, we didn't run."

"I have scratches and bites all over."

"Same, same. They look strange, don't you think? Look at this one," He lifted his sleeve, showing his scar on his arm.

I had the exact same scar on my arm.

"We have matching scars Eddie!" I held my arm against his. They were identical. It was a little strange.

"Let's drive back to mine, yeah?" I said. "I've seen everything i needed to.

"Alright."

Once we got back to mine, we were up in the bedroom yet again.

"I'm bored, do you wanna smoke?"

"Your parents are-"

"Eddie, they don't have to know."

"Okay darling, if you say so."

Darling. Whenever he said that it created butterflies in my stomach.

We stood by the window and smoked. Hoping we would get caught.

I couldn't help but notice Eddie's teeth, it was almost like he had grew.... fangs?

"Eddie- your- your teeth.." I said.

"Sam- why have you got fangs?" He said.

I hadn't even said anything to him, so clearly i had some fangs as well.

I rushed and looked in my mirror. He wasn't wrong, i had fangs. I guess you could say we were 'vampires'.

"Do you think it's the bat bites?!" I asked.

"Probably!" Eddie also said.

"Oh my god!" I said excitedly, same with Eddie. We jumped up and down together.

"What are we gonna do?"

"I don't know! Just try your best to hide them?" I said.

"You can see them whenever we talk. We look pretty cool though, huh?"

"Pretty cool? Mr Munson we look awesome."

"Maybe all that pain was worth it." He smiled and then came closer. I smiled back and leaned in for another kiss.

"What are we gonna do?"

"I'm not sure. But the way Hawkins is at the moment, we'll all be dead soon enough."

"Won't we feel the urge to bite people..?" I smiled.

"We'll be fine Sam. We can just try live normally. This is the new normal now i guess."

"Live normally? As vampires?"

"Pretty epic huh?"
