Steve dropped the others off, once he got back the rest of us entered the upside down.
"Do we all know where we're going?" Nancy checked.
"Oh yeah, we know alright. Staying right here in my trailer." Eddie smiled.
"Okay good, Dustin?"
"Yes. See you guys after all this shit is done."
"Hey Steve," Eddie called. "Make him pay."
Steve nodded.
"You two, don't try to be cute and be heroes or some shit, don't make fight. If anything happens, you run." Steve added.
"Oh no, we are definitely gonna run." Eddie said. "I mean look at us, we are not heroes."
"Not heroes." I whispered sarcastically.
"Right, best get off then." Robin said.
"Sam, be careful." Nancy said.
I liked that she still cared. She was my sister after all, so she should anyway.
"I will be, you too."
The others all left, so Eddie and I went into his bedroom to get his guitar.
"It's like she was destined... for another dimension.." Eddie said, stunned that the guitar was in perfectly good shape just hanging on the wall.
"You excited for the most metal ever?"
"Oh yeah, too damn well. I know exactly what i'm gonna play."
"What have you decided on?"
"Master of puppets, metallica. Heard of it?"
"Of course i have, it's a new one and it's a banger."
"This is gonna be epic." He said, looking excited.
"Come on, let's get on the roof." I said, and he followed me to outside.
I lifted my leg on top of a metal outlet box attached to his trailer and pulled myself up. He had his hand on the bottoms of my legs for support. And then he climbed up like a pro.
"And now we wait. " I said.
It was silent for a couple minutes. But i think that was what we had needed. Eddie broke the silence.
"You know, i'm happy you're here." He said softly, and i turned to look at him as he was looking at me. "I uh, i guess i wouldn't wanna really do this with anyone else."
"Same goes to you." I smiled.
"Yeah i mean, you're my best friend. You always have been."
I felt my heat sink at those words, even though i knew they were true and it was only ever going to be like that for us.
"Eddie i-" I started, but i saw the light being flashed through the woods. "I can see the light. They said five flashes for phase two, he's only flashed twice. Maybe he was just testing."
"Yeah probably. Keep an eye out."
I was keeping an eye out, as well as staring at his face. I couldn't help but admire his face shape, all those imperfections that were seen as perfect in every way, in my eyes.
His brown eyes that sparkled, that lit up the mood the second he'd open them. His smile, that too, would lighten up the mood.
Everything about him, in my eyes, was just perfect.
I just wished he could see me in that way. I was just another one of his best friends that joined him at hellfire. Yes, i let him stay round mine, yes i hid him away and yes i was sticking by his side; it probably meant nothing to him.
"It's crazy how i had never heard of this place a few weeks ago, and i loved normally." Eddie said.
"Yeah, it hits like a ton of bricks. But that's how quick life changes i suppose."
"If one of us doesn't make it out-"
"Eddie stop. I said this to you and you told me it was all going to be okay. So therefore i'm saying it to you now, it is going to be okay. We are going to get through this."
"Yeah you're right. We are gonna have a nice time- a nice metal concert- and just go fucking insane." Eddie said, getting excited at the end part trying to lighten his mood.
"Yes!" I said, and then me and Eddie both looked into the woods. "One, two, three, four...."
"Five. Right. You ready?" Eddie said, standing up, as did i.
We got up ready for the beginning of the best metal ever. I had never heard Eddie play, so i was looking forward to it.
