***Athena's POV***

We sprinted our way across the great valleys of the vast country. We had been chasing after the orcs who had kidnapped Merry, Pippin, and Daisy for several days. We ran without a break, knowing that the orcs would not stop either. We finally stopped so that Legolas could scan his eyes in search of the lost hobbits. He had much better eye sight than I did.

"Legolas!" Aragorn called out. "What do you elf eyes see?"

"The Orcs are turning north-east. They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!"

This caused me to gasp. Isengard only meant one thing for me: Sarmuan.

"Saruman," I murmured under my breath. I snapped out of my frantic thoughts, glancing around at the others. "What are you guys waiting for?!" I said in a shrill voice. "Let's go!"

Poor Gimli was still struggling to keep up with us. But we didn't bother stopping. We couldn't stop. We had some friends to save from the hands of the enemies.

"Come, Gimli," Legolas insisted. "We're gaining on them!"

"I've wasted cross-country," Gimli wheezed. "We dwarves are natural sprinters! Very dangerous over certain circumstances."

We ran for another entire night, thoroughly exhausted. But we didn't dare stop or sleep, if we were going to catch up with the enemy. This was a very risky move. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to help rescue Daisy, Merry, and Pippin. I wondered how Sera would feel when she learns that her sister had been kidnapped by some of the foulest creatures that walked this earth.

Once the dawn had risen again, Legolas finally stopped, glancing in the direction of the sun.

"A red sun is rising," Legolas announced. "Blood has been spilt this night."

"At least a day ahead of us," Aragorn mumbled. "C'mon!"

We continued running again before noticing that a group of riders were heading in our direction. We made sure to hide in the pile of large rocks. Legolas managed to pull Gimli in just in time before he could be trampled over the horses. We waited until the riders were a good bit away from us before we decided to come out. Aragorn called out to them in a loud voice.

"Riders of Rohan! What news from the mark?!"

The riders circled back around, trapping us in a circle. I immediately put my arms up in the air to prevent myself from getting shot. Everyone else in my group followed suit. A man, who seemed to be the leader by the looks of it, jumped off his horse, staring at us in surprise.

"And what would a Ranger, an Elf, a human girl, and a Dwarf in the plains of the riddermark? Speak quickly!"

"Give me your name, Horse-Master," said Gimli in a cautious voice. "And I shall give you mine."

"Gimli," I say in a cautious voice as the leader of the group jumped from his horse. He gave the dwarf a vicious glare. Aragorn put a protective hand on Gimli's shoulder.

"I would cut off your head, dwarf," he sneered as he eyed Gimli's height. "If it stood but a little higher from the ground."

Before anyone had time to react, Legolas drew out his bow-and-arrow.

"Then you will die before your stroke fell!" he declared. Gimli and I stared at Legolas in surprise. Before the journey even began, Legolas and Gimli had hated each other's guts! What made them decide to change?

Aragorn stood in front of them to prevent a fight from breaking out.

"I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn," he greeted in a cautious voice. "This is Athena Armathal, the daughter of Lord Sauron. This is Legolas Greenleaf of the Woodland Realms, and Gimli, son of Gloin. We are friends of Rohan, and of your king."
