Chapter 17: The Riddle

Techno laid on his bed staring at the ceiling unable to sleep once again. Ever since the DreamSMP members had take Dream, Techno had been finding it hard to fall asleep. Sleep has been avoided like the plague, it refuses to come and take him into that blissful unconscious that he wished so much for.

If he slept then he wouldn't have to stay awake in this reality where Dream was in prison while he was out here. It was a constant reminder that he had not been strong enough to protect Dream.

Techno had been staring at this ceiling for the past three hours and it wasn't getting anymore interesting. Techno huffed sitting up knowing that he won't be able to sleep at all tonight, he got out of his bed and sat in his chair at his desk in front of a small window.

Techno rubbed his eyes before picking up his pen and opening the leather notebook. He opened the notebook and turned the pages till he came to the page he wanted. He read the page once again, Techno couldn't remember how many times he's read the same page.

When the blue sky darkens and the warriors are surrounded with no way out they'll turn to the one who's shackles have tightened other there life time, there shackles will be broken as they raise and show who they truly are.

'What did he mean where he told me this?' Techno thought tapping his pen on the wooden desk while he thought. 'When the blue sky darkens? Does it mean when day turns to night? Or something else?' he thought trying to figure out what Dream meant when he told him this annoying riddle.

'This riddle makes not sense!' Techno thought angrily as he threw his pen. Techno's head fell into this hands as tears welled up in his red eyes.

'Dream said if I figured this out I'd see that everything would be fine, but I can't figure it out' Techno thought as the tears welling up in his eyes began to fall wetting the paper below him.

Techno knew he needed a break, he's been trying to figure this riddle out for the past six weeks. But not matter what he tried he couldn't take a break or relax.

Techno looked out the window once again to see that the sky was now blue telling him it was morning. There was a knock at Techno door but Techno made no move to answer the door.

"Techno I know your awake. It's time for breakfast" Phil voice came from the other side of the door.

"I'm not hungry" Techno told Phil his voice cracking slightly.

Phil sighed as he tried to opened Techno's door, but the door wouldn't open. "Techno-" Phil began but was cut of by Techno.
"I. Said. I'm not hungry" Techno almost growled out not in the mood to talk at all.

Phil was beginning to think he should just barge into the prison and demand Sam to let Dream out and drag the blond back and tell the blond to get Techno out that room. Or he could just kick the door down. But Phil knew that wouldn't work, Techno would just refuse to leave the room door or no door.

"Techno....is this want Dream wanted when he left with the others back to the prison?" Phil asked softly knowing he was treading on thin ice here.

Phil heard no noises from Techno's room till he head a sad broken sigh "no"

"Then what did he want?" Phil asked slowly again and waited patiently for an answer.

Phil heard foot steps from the other side of the door before it opened to reveal a very tired looking Techno who's eyes where red and puffy from crying.

Phil smiled at Techno who just walked past him and down the stairs to the kitchen. Phil's smile faltered slightly before following Techno down.

Techno sat down and began to eat ignoring Wilbur who tried to have a conversation with him. Phil came around the corner and shook his head at Wilbur, Wilbur stoped trying to talk to Techno and fell into silence.

They eat breakfast in silence and once he was finished Techno stood up without saying a word and left locking himself back into his room.

They heard Techno's door slam shut Phil and Wilbur both flinched at the sound. Wilbur turned his head to look at Phil "what did you say?" He asked feeling it had to be something his father said that one out Techno out of his room and to eat but it also seemed to anger Techno and he wanted to know.

Phil sighed rubbing his temples "I asked him is this what Dream wanted" he told his son. "Wait, wait wait. You what?" Wilbur asked not quite believing what he heard.

Phil hummed "I asked him is this want Dream wanted. And to be honest I can't find it in me to care that Techno's angry because of what I said, I'm just happy he eat something and left that room" he told Wilbur honestly.

"I agree but couldn't you have found a better way without angering him?" Wilbur asked thinking Phil could have come up with a better plan. Phil shrugged his shoulders "I don't know, probably, just couldn't come up with anything at the time"

Wilbur wanted to faceplate. Was his father being serious.

Techno collapsed back into his chair at his wooden desk he sighed tiredly as he looked out his window once again his head resting on his crossed arms. He watched as the blue sky started to darken to grey as the weather turned.

Techno watched as a storm began to rage the sky was dark. Techno stared at it his eyes looking bored. Techno's eyes widened as his head shot up. His hands ran across his desk frantically as he searched for his leather notebook.

Techno opened the notebook and turned the pages until his stoped in the page with Dream riddle written on. 'When the blue sky darkens... he didn't mean night he would have just said from day to night if it was that not the blue sky darkens' Techno thought smiling slightly as the riddle began to make some sense.

When the blue sky darkens and the warriors are surrounded with no way out they'll turn to the one who's shackles have tightened other there life time, there shackles will be broken as they raise and show who they truly are.
'The warriors are surrounded... that's probably the DreamSMP members. If there surrounded then the person they turn to will probably be Dream, just like they did last time. As for his shackles will be broken maybe then he'll be able to life happy' Techno thought finally deciphering the riddle Dream told him.

Techno fell back into his chair as a smile found its way upon his face. Dream was right when he said when he figured out the riddle he'd know everything would be fine. Because know Techno knew everything would be alright.

Techno looked back at the page and saw the end of the riddle 'show who they truly are? What does Dream mean by that' he thought baffled but he shoved that to the side not really bothered at the moment to think about that.
