The battle wasn't getting any easier.
No matter how much power and strength the ninja released, the Preeminent barely felt it. Nothing, truly nothing, had a single effect on her.
They also had the thousands of roaming ghosts to account for. Nya shot a beam at one and turned to her brother. "I thought you were gonna get closer?"
"You don't think I'm trying!?"
Wu ran toward the fighters, Misako in tow. "It's too late. We have to get to the ship and protect the people."
Jay fought off a tentacle. "But what about Lloyd?"
Misako did the same. A small frown formed on her face. "This is what Lloyd would have wanted."
Kai caught his aeroblade and nodded. "To the ship, but we're not leaving anyone else behind!"
Natasha jumped on top of a tentacle to avoid being tripped by it. While she sliced another, a third tightly wrapped around her waist and lifted her into the air.
"Ah, shit," Jay muttered.
In the next two seconds, she knew to use her aeroblade. But at the height she was currently at, even she wouldn't be able to make a graceful landing — some part of her body would be broken when she reached the wooden bridge.
Cole took action first. He hopped two tentacles high, ready to catch her. So when she did indeed slice the tentacle off like a piece of bread, she began to fall.
He held his arms out. "I got you!"
What he didn't take a second to think about was his transparency. His expectation was for her to land right in his arms, maybe even stare up at him so pretty he'd catch feelings; the usual knight in shining armor tale.
Instead, Kai slid on his knees and caught her right before her back hit the floorboards. He unintentionally had her rather close to his chest, their eyes locking for a good three seconds.
"You're good. I got you."
She'd be lying if she said she wasn't surprised nor a little embarrassed. "... gracias."
Though he put her on her feet a millisecond later, Cole still sighed. "Motherfucker."
Zane was knocked off his mech, unfortunately being forced to leave it as a tentacle slid toward it. Wu led the entire team toward the pier, finding a mother and her child scared for their lives behind a building. "Follow me!"
Ronin was kind of excited, chopping away at the Preeminent's body with the sacred sword. Just a few more citizens and the ship would be full.
Wu stood on the edge. "That's all of them. We need to get this ship to sea to put as much water between us as possible."
"No problem." The thief grinned as he severed the rope holding the ship to the pier clean. Slowly, it started to sail away. As he was alone on deck, Natasha took a step forward.
The hell was he thinking?
Unfortunately, the Master of Wind then came down with the Realm Crystal in his left hand. A wild smirk was on his face.
"Uh... maybe one problem."
"It's Morro!" Kai announced the obvious.
"Ah, hold on." Said villain lowly chuckled. "Give it a second..."
He didn't need the Sword of Sanctuary to know Natasha was going to jump out of the ship and stand by her cousin's side.
"Get back on the god damn ship," Ronin scolded through his teeth.
