The ninjas managed to escape the police. However, Misako wasn't so lucky. And Wu had already been in a hidden location.
Nadakhan got to him first. He would soon make his move on the archaeologist next.
In the meantime, the six had no choice but to split up at Stiix. It took over an entire day for them to finally reunite at their set location and talk about the next course of action.
At Ninjago City, the commissioner was forced to speak about the ninjas' sudden disappearance. It eventually became too much, and he had someone to meet.
"No—no more questions. That is all."
He had to flee back inside the precinct or he would have been trampled by reporters. He shut the doors in their faces before they ran in, finally having some peace and quiet.
Ronin was already on the lobby bench, reading a newspaper that covered his entire face. "Looks like you don't have an eye for this sort of work." He then lowered it. "You're never gonna catch them, commish. If you wanna catch a ninja, you have to know a ninja."
The commissioner crossed his arms. "Ronin, you're no better than the crooks you catch."
"Hmm, maybe. But she's clean."
The sound of heels clicking on the marble floor rang through their ears. Natasha opened the doors next to the bench and entered.
The elder took one glance at her and squinted. "No. I'm not putting a teenager in police business. What the hell are you thinking?"
Ronin sighed, shaking his head in disappointment. "Can't believe he's underestimating you. Well, that's what they always do the first time around, don't they?"
"I'll find them. I've already got that bookworm, Misako, in custody."
"But what about the sensei?"
"Wu? Oh, he was last seen entering the Domu Library, but no one saw him come out," he answered. "Those... those ninja! They get all that power then use it to do what!? Rob the only place that loved them! Spoiled brats!"
Seeing as Ronin had put up the newspaper again, he lowered it. Truly, he needed the help. "So... you sure you can bring them to justice?"
The thief only scoffed. "With a bow on. All I need in return is a clean slate, so I can pile all that fresh money you're gonna give me onto it."
The commissioner turned to Natasha, who hadn't said a word to him yet. "What about her?"
"Don't worry about her. She gets whatever she wants from me."
"Hm. Then catch all five of them, Mr. Ronin, and you can have anything you want."
He shook his head. "It's six. There's six of them now. And she's probably the toughest one to catch."
The deal was made. And then the doors burst open, the journalists hustling toward the commissioner. The pair of cousins were out of there before they were seen.
They began to plot. Well, Ronin mainly did the planning. She just listened and agreed.
"Knowing them, they're probably split up right now. Even better, in pairs. They're trying to hide from the police, but from someone else, too. So they can't risk being alone. But, the bigger the group, the better your chances of getting caught."
He handed her a gun and thermal vision goggles. They weren't too hefty, fortunately.
"I have a sense of who's paired up with who. You're gonna go after Cole and his partner. He's a ghost, so you'll need these in case he pulls a trick like disappearing or something. Whoever else he's with, I know you can take them on."
