20. Aurora

Max's pov --->

"aurora?" I even saw dad look behind him.

"Max?" The women by the door asks.

"oh my goodness" Grandma covered her mouth more.

"You look so much like her" Dad looked at her closely while walking up to us. She let out a small nervous laugh.

"Is that really you" Grandma touched her hand. She looked down at grandma and smiled.

"it's really me" She gave everyone a smile.

The jungle of the door opening catches all of us again when some dude I didn't know of walked in.

"Anthony" Dad walked away greeting him. I paid attention back to aurora.

"Oh max" She looked at my face. I was previously crying for some period of time. "When did it happen" She looked back at mom.

"November 26th" I sucked my tooth a little. Grandma's cold as ice, hands laid on top of mine as we sat.

I checked the time, 52 minutes until it starts. Aurora gave me a side hug but it felt awkward for her just to show up when mom died. She couldn't have showed up any other time?

"So how's your life been" She tried to start a conversation. I turn my head to look at her.

"You could have came back earlier" I completely dodge her question. That made her quiet. A few more people showed up but I kept looking for the girl with green roots that was my girlfriend.

"who are you looking for" aurora looked at the door too when mom's sister walked in.

"my girlfriend" I sigh taking my phone out.

"you have a girlfriend? Wow"

"yep" I pick at my phone case. Its a stress reliever.

"You still have the jacket" Aurora gives a toothy grin. I nod but shrug at her. She keep looking at me when my phone rings. Billie's calling thank god.

"Got to take this" I press the green button getting up and walking to the doors.

"Hey bil" I lean against the window.

"hey baby"

"how'd the interview go" I chew the inside of my cheek.

"its going ya know. I have to stop back at mom's house to change then ill be there. I promise" her voice echos. I hear finneas in the background shorty after.

"okay please hurry I'm to awkward for this" It earned both of us laughs.

"I will okay? Bye I lo-" she cuts herself off.

"I love you too bye billie" I feel my cheeks go to the magic color everyone says is blush color.

"I love you more" she tries to continue it.

"hurry okay" I laugh. She hangs up then I look down at the phone playing her voice. I walk back to grandma because she's the only person right now I can stand.

"Was that billie?" Grandma asks.

"yes it was" I smile a little in the negative feelings of the room.

"she's a nice girl" She cooed. I told grandma about billie one night when she came over to mom's. That night mom also sat down with us trying to enjoy the conversation.

"Yeah" I chew on my bottom lip while looking at the closed casket of mom's. "I miss her grams" I felt the little tears of mine fill the bottom of my eyes like a gutter on a house.
