When Zack and I woke up at 8 am the next day, Julie and Dad had already left to prepare for their big day.
I didn't understand how they planned it so quickly. They probably just kept it a secret from me and my brothers.
Maybe that's why Mom had been drinking more recently before she "left". Maybe that's why she couldn't control her anger. Maybe that's the real reason we left Virginia.
Mom hated Julie. I mean she stole her husband, and it wasn't the best feeling to constantly hear how they were doing.
Mom always looked on Facebook to see what they were up to. Maybe that was creepy, but I understood why she's still glued on to Dad.
She still couldn't believe he had left. She loved him, and she thought he loved her back.
He played her. He betrayed her. No one deserves what my dad did to her.
Once I got over my laziness, I changed my shirt, went to the kitchen and looked in the fridge.
My grandpa barely had anything in his shitty house to eat. There was some soy milk in the fridge, though.
Hoping there would be something good to go with the milk inside, I opened the pantry. Luckily, there were some fat-free Frosted Flakes.
It was good enough. I found two ceramic bowls and poured cereal in both. I took them over to the living room. Zack was sitting on the sofa watching something on the TV.
I handed one of the bowls to Zack. He stared into the bowl and chuckled. "Nice meal."
"I'm not a good cook, okay," I said, pouting at him. I sat down next to him and began to eat my cereal.
It was pretty damn good to me. It could've had more sugar, but that was Grandpa's fault for buying the fat-free kind.
"What is this?" I asked, wondering what we were watching.
"I'm not completely sure. It's one of those cop shows. Like Criminal Minds or some shit."
Of course. I was actually glad that Zack had something he loved and that he worked at it. He seemed really happy with it, which made me happy.
I didn't really care that he lied anymore. I understood why. It was just like how I wanted to keep my escape from him, and I would have if he hadn't of discovered it himself.
"So, are you okay? Are you prepared for the wedding?" Zack snapped me from my thoughts. He tended to do that a lot.
"Yeah, I guess so. I mean, I wish that Mom and Dad could still be a thing. I wish my family could be whole and happy again. But I know it's never going to happen."
He finished his cereal, so he reached over to put the bowl on the side table next to the end of the couch.
"I just worry about you, Nessa."
"There's nothing to worry about, Zack." I got up and picked up his bowl. Then, I took both bowls back to the kitchen and put them in the sink.
Zack turned the TV off. "There's actually a lot to worry about."
I looked up at him, straight in the face. "Oh really? Like what?"
"Nessa, you fucking cut yourself! Do you expect me-"
"Stop screaming at me!" I interrupted him. "I get it." I headed towards the stairs. I felt like a burden.
I hated making people worry. It was the worst thing ever to me. I hated it so freaking much.
