Twenty Four

I walked through the quiet halls of the Etihad on my way to the office swinging the door open to find Hannah looking at something on her laptop.

I had expected the rest of the team to be here as-well

"Where is everyone" i asked Hannah taking a seat at my desk and opening my lap top

I scanned through the numerous emails when I saw one from Andy asking me to meet him on one of the meeting rooms at 3pm

I frowned my brows before turning to Hannah

"This is strange Andy has asked me to meet him in a meeting room at 3, I can't remember him mentioning anything about this" I told Hannah as she turned to look at me a strange look on her face

"I need to warn you Chlo, I was told not to say anything when I was questioned about it but someone has told management about you and John" my heart sank at her words

"Who was it" I asked confused

"I don't know it wasn't any of us but he seemed really pissed earlier when he was quizzing me about it" she sighed

"But I didn't say anything" she shifted awkwardly in her chair

"I don't see the problem tho, it's never affected my work" I told her

"I don't know but he's angry"

I checked the time 5 to 3 I picked up my laptop incase I needed it and headed out the doors to the office slamming it behind me

I opened the door to the room Andy had asked me to meet him in sitting down and biting down on my nails

"Hey" Andy said coldly sitting in the seat opposite me

I breathed deeply as he opened his laptop hesitating slightly

"I'm just going to cut to the chase, it has been brought to my attention there is a romantic connection between you and John stones" he looked me in the eyes

I tried my best to muster up a lie but in the end knew I had to tell the truth

"It's nothing official yet" I told him shaking my leg under the table

"I can't allow it to continue" he said

I instantly felt the blood rush to my cheeks as the tears filled my eyes, not again this cannot be happening to me again

"I don't understand" I raised my voice slightly annoyed

"I employed you because of your professionalism and hard working ethic, what happens when things don't work out and I'm unable to put you into training sessions together" Andy continues

I couldn't believe what I was hearing right now the England training team where completely fine with it as long as it didn't affect my work so I couldn't work out what the problem was here

"I can assure you no matter what happens between me and John I will never let it come between me and my work" I told him more frantic than before

"I get that's your out look on things right now but that could change in an instant I just can't take the chance, I also have worked with John for a number of years and if you think your any different from the other girls he has bragged about while being at the club then I hate to be the one to tell you that your wrong" he explained

My blood was boiling by this point who was he to sit there and tell me what I can or can't feel, I rolled my eyes and bit down on the side of my cheek looking anywhere but him

"I understand that your going to be upset with what Iv just said but if you choose to not listen to me then you really need to think about your future here at the club"

Did he just threaten me, I was to angry to even speak as i grabbed my laptop slamming the door behind me and heading to the office to collect my bag before storming out of the building and into my car

I rested both arms on the wheel as my emotions took over and the tears steamed from my eyes how could this be happening after everything me and John had been through yet another person was trying to tear us apart

I drove home in silence as I sobbed the whole way and the only person I wanted to be with right now was John.

"I don't get that though it's not affecting your work" Lilly said reaching into the cupboard and grabbing 2 glasses out before getting the wine from the fridge

After a couple hours of my crying I finally pulled myself together

My head had been spinning since leaving work today and I wasn't entirely sure how to tell John about it, he and Kyle had went out after training and still hadn't come home yet so myself and Lilly downed a bottle of wine and I decided to call it a night .

I was woken a couple hours later from a loud voice echoing from down stairs, checking the clock I had only been asleep for an hour

"HE SAID FUCKING WHAT" I heard Johns voice before I could hear his footsteps come up the stairs

I closed my eyes pretending I was asleep to try and avoid this conversation

I heard John walk slowly over to my side of the bed sitting down on the edge before gently rubbing my arm slowly

"Chloe wake up babe" he whispered as I stirred opening my eyes to see his beautiful face hanging over me

I sat up to face him the only light shining in from the hallway as I wrapped my arms round his neck unable to stop the tears once again falling from my eyes

After explaining the whole conversation I had with Andy to John I could see the anger in his face

"I'm going to fix this" he said bringing both hands to my face and wiping the hair out of my eyes

"I won't let them do this to us, not again" he said before leaving a small kiss on my lips before pulling me in again to his chest

I felt him sigh deeply his grip tightening around my shoulders

"I don't want this to affect you or your place in the team in anyway" I told him worried that he could loose the head about this

"Listen to me, He has no right.. the club has no right to tell us what we can and can't do this hasn't affected the way I play or the way you work and I'm not standing for it... I promise you I will fix this" he rubbed my back slowly before pushing me back onto my pillow and taking the space behind me

We lay there for what felt like hours in silence giving each other the occasional squeeze or kiss when John eventually spoke

"I'm going to take you out tomorrow night, just me and you" I smiled up at him running my hand along his now bare collar bone

"That would be nice" I kissed him softly before snuggling back into him

"Get some sleep babe" he said pulling the blanket over us both some more
