(Steve's POV)

"We have to find, Y/n." Dustin panicked. "She's in my car in the parking lot." I told him. "How? You said the Russians took the keys." Dustin puzzled. "The car's been unlocked the whole time." I told him. "Well, we need to get her in case they find her in your car." Dustin said. "Yeah, no duh. If she isn't in the car she probably ran home or to the Fourth of July carnival." I told him. "How do you know?" Dustin asked. "Because she was my girlfriend, dumb*ss." I huffed. "Was your girlfriend?" Dustin puzzled. "I'll explain later. We need to go get her though." I said. We stopped to talk for a second when Robin said something. "Guys." she worried. We all looked up and in front of us was a Russian. "Abort. Abort. Abort." Dustin panicked and we ran the other way. "Sh!t." I mumbled as we stopped at the escalator. "Okay." Robin worried. I turned around and saw him getting closer. Robin went down the split in the escalator and I followed after her. Dustin came down after me and lastly Erica. We hid behind one of the counters in the food court. The man who was chasing us walked around talking Russian into his walkie-talkie. I heard multiple walkie-talkies, telling me we were surrounded by more than one guy. I heard them all walking in some sort of formation closer to us. Then the car alarm started going off and the horn was honking. All the men turned quickly towards it and one of them said something in Russian, but I wasn't entirely sure what. Then I heard something go crashing across the room. The four of us stood up and it had been the car. We looked up to the second level and there was Eleven and all of our friends.

(Your POV)

I watched as something went flying across the food court floor. It looked like a car, but I wasn't really sure. I ran out of the car and straight inside. Behind the Orange Julius counter was Steve, Dustin, Erica, and Robin. On the second level was Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Will, Max, Nancy, and Jonathan. Everyone ran to meet in the middle of the food court but me. I saw everyone hugging thankful everyone was alive. I couldn't bear to see Steve though. "You flung that thing like a Hot Wheel!" Dustin cheered. "Lucas?" Erica puzzled. "What are you doing here?" Lucas questioned. "Ask them. It's their fault." Erica said pointing to Dustin, Steve, and Robin. "True, yeah. Totally true. It's absolutely our fault." Steve took the blame although, it was technically our fault. "I don't understand what happened to that car." Robin puzzled. "El has superpowers." Dustin explained. "I'm sorry?" Robin puzzled. "Superpowers. She threw it with her mind. Come on. Catch up." Steve explained in more detail. "That's El?" Erica asked. "Who's El?" Robin puzzled. "I'm sorry, who are you?" Nancy asked. "I'm Robin. I work with Steve." She introduced. "She cracked the top secret code." Dustin added. "Yeah, which is how we found out about the Russians." Steve added. "Russians? Wait, what Russians?" Jonathan puzzled. "The Russians!" Steve yelled. "Those were Russians?" Max asked. "Some of them." Erica answered. "What are you talking about?" Lucas asked. "Didn't you hear our code red?" Dustin asked. "Yeah. I couldn't understand half of what you were saying." Mike huffed "Godd*mn low battery." Dustin huffed. "How many times do I have to tell you with the low battery?" Steve questioned with an angry tone. "Okay, well, everything worked out, didn't it, Steve?" Dustin asked. "Worked out? We almost died." Erica raged. "Yeah, but we didn't, did we?" Dustin questioned. "It was pretty d*mn close." Steve argued. "Okay, Russians? As in, they're working for the Russian government?" Lucas asked. "What are you not comprehending? Am I not speaking English?" Dustin questioned. I noticed Eleven walking away from the party so I ran over to her. I couldn't even hear everyone talking anymore. "Eleven, what is it?" I asked but I didn't get an answer. She started covering her ears and it looked like she was in severe pain. "El?" I puzzled. "Guys, I need some help over here." I called but nobody heard me. Then she collapsed. Everyone turned around and ran right over to her. I dropped to my knees to see if she was awake. "El! El! El!" Mike whimpered. "What's wrong with her?" Erica asked. "What's wrong? What's wrong?" Mike asked in a panic. "My leg. My leg." she cried. "Her leg. Her leg. Okay." Jonathan panicked and opened up the bandage over her leg. Under the skin was something huge and it was red and swollen. The thing started moving up her leg. Eleven started grunting in pain. I cringed and nuzzled my head into Steve's chest. "El! El!" Mike yelled and I covered my ears. "El! El, are you okay?" Mike asked in a complete panic now. Steve looked down at me and put his hands over mine. Now, I could barely hear anything. Voices were muffled and my eyes were shut tight. Everyone talked, but I couldn't make out their words. I just knew they were yelling. I heard El screaming, but that was all I could make out. I opened my eyes to Jonathan running away from the scene at full speed. Something he didn't do often. He jumped the Teppanyaki counter and rummaged through a draw. I got up and ran over to him. "What are you looking for?" I asked. "Something sharp." he declared. "You're going to perform surgery on her in the middle of Starcourt Mall's food court, aren't you?" I asked. "It's the only way." he rushed. He grabbed a pair of gloves and rummaged through another drawer and grabbed a wooden spoon. He turned on the stove and put the knife over it to heat it up before running back to the group. "Okay. All right, El? This is gonna hurt like h3ll, okay?" he told her. "I need you to stay real still. Here, you're gonna wanna bite down on this, okay?" he said and handed the wooden spoon to Mike who put it in El's mouth. I covered my ears knowing there was about to be a lot of screaming. "Do it." Mike said and Jonathan sliced her leg open. Jonathan paused for a second before sticking his fingers in the cut to get the thing out. Eleven spit out the spoon and started yelling, "Stop it!" she screamed. "Stop! Stop!" Nancy yelled. Jonathan took his hand out of her leg and she sat up. "I can do it. I can do it." she cried. She put her hand out above her leg and started dragging out whatever was in her leg. The glass behind us then shattered into millions of tiny little pieces. El finally got out the thing in her leg and threw it across the room. It looked like something of some weird-looking monster made of exploded humans. We watched as it crawled away only to get stomped on by Hopper who was standing in front of my mom and some guy with glasses and dark black hair.

I ran over to my mom with Will and Jonathan by my side. We all engulfed her in a huge hug. "Y/n, what happened to your face?" she asked. "What do you mean?" I puzzled. "You're covered in blood, sweetheart." she told me. "Uhm, well, Russians happened. They interrogated me and even though I told the truth they thought I was lying so they punched the sh!t out of me and I'm pretty sure they broke my nose." I told her. Her eyes went wide in absolute fear. "Sorry. Dustin came to Steve and I saying he had heard a secret Russian communication so we translated it which led us to a room that turned into an elevator which we stayed in overnight after we got locked in and when it finally opened it revealed a long *ss hallway which turned into a secret Russian base under Starcourt Mall." I told her. "Just, don't tell anyone I've told you that yet." I smiled weakly. "I'm just glad you're okay for the most part." she smiled and pulled me into a hug. We all went and sat down next to Mike and everyone to hear what he was talking about. "The Mind Flayer, it built this monster in Hawkins, to stop El, to kill her and pave a way into our world." Mike confided. "And it almost did. That was just one tiny piece of it." Nancy added. "How big is this thing?" Hopper asked. "It's big. Thirty feet, at least." Jonathan told us. "Yeah. It sorta destroyed your cabin. Sorry." Lucas told Hop. "Okay, so, just to be clear, this...this big fleshy spider thing that hurt El, it's some sort of gigantic...weapon?" Steve asked. "Yes." Nancy confirmed. "But instead of, like, screws and metal, the Mind Flayer made its weapon...with melted people?" Steve finished. "Yes, exactly." Nancy confirmed. "Yeah, okay. I--Yeah, I'm just making sure." Steve said. "Are we sure this thing is still out there, still alive?" Mom asked. "El beat the sh!t out of it, but, yeah, it's still alive." Max answered. "But if we close the gate again--" Will started but was cut off. "We cut the brain off from the body." Max finished. "And kill it. Theoretically." Lucas finished. "Yoo-hoo! Yoo-hoo!" the other man who was with Hopper called waving around some pieces of paper. He come over and set them on one of the food court tables which we all crowded around. I was standing next to Steve holding his hand. As much as I hated him right now, he made me feel safe, so I wanted him close by me. "Okay, this is what Alexei called 'the hub.' Now the hub takes us to the vault room." the man explained. "Okay, where's the gate?" Hopper asked. "Right here. I don't know the scale on this, but I think it's fairly close to the vault room, maybe 50 feet or so." the man said. "More like 500. What? You're just gonna waltz in there like it's commie Disneyland or something?" Erica questioned. "I'm sorry, who are you?" Murray asked. "Erica Sinclair. Who are you?" she repeated. "Murray...Bauman." he told her. "Listen, Mr. Bunman, I'm not trying to tell you how to do things, but I've been down in that sh!thole for 24 hours. And with all due respect, you do what this man tells you, you're all gonna die." Erica sassed. "I'm sorry, why is this four-year-old speaking to me?" Murray asked. "Um, I'm ten you bald b*st*rd." she fumed. "Erica!" Lucas yelled. "Just the facts!" she declared. "She's right. You're all gonna die, but you don't have to. Excuse me. Sorry, may I?" Dustin asked. "Please." Murray smiled sarcastically. "Okay, see this room here? This is a storage facility. There's a hatch in here that feeds into their underground ventilation system. That will lead you to the base of the weapon. It's a bit of a maze down there, but between me and Erica, we can show you the way." Dustin explained. "You can show us the way?" Hopper asked. "Don't worry, you can do all the fighting and the dangerous hero sh!t, and we'll just be your...navigators." Dustin told him. "No. Nope." Hopper denied.

A few minutes later Hopper was taking a gun from one of the Russians and loaded the ammo into it. "Well, that settles it. He's gonna die. They're gonna die." Erica said. "Yep, most likely." Dustin agreed. "You guys survived." Lucas said. "Barely. We could've really used you guys down there." Dustin told them. "Could've used you guys up here, too." Mike smiled. "Yeah, man. We missed you, dude." Lucas added. "Yeah. Big-time." Will smiled and the four of them hugged. "I missed you guys too. Big-time." Dustin smiled. "Please don't cry, nerds." Erica ruined their moment. I was getting tired of it too though. "Erica." Lucas huffed. "Keep saying my name, see what happens." she sassed. "Hey, heads up. You can navigate, just from someplace safe." Hopper told them throwing Dustin a walkie-talkie. "It's not that simple." Dustin said. "The signal won't reach." Erica added. "Not with this. You need something with a high enough frequency band to relay with the Russians' radio tower. But for that to work, you need someone who has both seen in their comms room and has access to a super-powered handcrafted radio tower, one preferably already situated at the highest point in Hawkins. Oh, wait. That's me. If you want us to navigate, you got us. But we need a head start. And a car." Dustin explained.
