Destiny is our biggest fear, but we don't always know that it is. The unknown is the future and everything unknown can be good or bad, can bring you up or down. People say that only God knows your destiny but they don't know that I know it too. I can see your future, your DESTINY. I know if you become a famous, well known person, have a successful career, start a big, happy family, find the love of your life or how you'll die- Sometimes. I like to draw it rather than say it out loud, I'm not the talkiest kind of being. I like to watch people walk down the busy streets of New York. It's crazy when you think about how every single person, who's rushing through the crowd has their own story. I also like to sit at this one big tree in the city near 200 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, looking up at the 59-story skyscraper, filled with heroes. They don't look after the little guys like me, no. But you can't help everyone, I know that. The world is too big, too wide and has too many places for only 6 heroes. That's why I try to help them, well as much as a little 13 year old can do, without saying a word. It's April, the trees begin to bloom in pink and white, in between the little green leaves seeking the last beams of light. The city is busy like it always is, many people walk down the concrete streets, cabs, cars and buses driving past them. The green, yellow and red shine of the traffic lights and the big screens hanging on the high buildings of NYC are shining down at them in the little afternoon light of the big, round ball called- sun. I don't know how I got these powers but I'm okay with it now. At first it was scary, I couldn't even look at people without seeing their future right in front of me, I didn't know what to do...should I tell them? Tell someone? Or should I just keep it to myself? I didn't want to tell people that I know how they'll die... I didn't even know how I should. I couldn't just walk up to someone and tell them that they'll die because the apple they're just eating will turn into their death in a few minutes. They wouldn't believe me anyways, so I just draw it and give them the paper without a word, it's up to them what they'll do after it. You are DESTINED and I know for what.
The sun is getting lower and lower with every minute that passes by and I get more tired as I still sit in the same spot I was 2 hours ago. I decide that it's time to go, not home, no. The orphanage. I get up, wipe the bottom of my jean-shorts to get rid of the dirt, grab my stuff and put it into my red backpack.
I walk down the sidewalk, squeezing through the crowd of adults that don't even notice me. I hold on tight on my backpack and sigh as I turn left. A man with a hat and suit passes me, accidentally hitting me with his bag.
"Ouch" I grumble as I stroke my arm where he just hit me
"Sorry" he mumbles and walks past me, not turning around to see if I was okay, no, he shows me his back like everyone does.
I look to the ground about to go on walking but I spot a pin on the edge of the sidewalk. I tilt my head a little and wander towards it. I crouch down and grab it, it is an eagle, illustrated in black and white with the iscription 'Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division'.
It looks cool. The man must have lost it when he hit me with his bag, he won't be mad if I take it right? I mean, he won't even know that I took it. I keep on walking with the pin in the left pocket of my shorts slowly make my way to the orphanage. I open the big brown double door of the orphanage and rush up the stairs, my once white shoes touch the blue fabric of the carpet as I reach the end.
I run down the hallway to room A23, I open the door and close it again. I take my shoes off and throw my backpack on my bed, put my hair out of the bun and walk out of the room again. I'm late.
As I reach the cafeteria, everyone is already sitting and eating dinner. Great. I sigh as everyone looks at me, I slowly walk to the table with Anna, Ben and Sophia, my roommates and only friends in this world.
