We enter the library and are met with big shelves filled with hundreds of thousands of different books. It looks old but it’s beautiful.
“Come on” Michelle whispers and drags me with her. We walk past shelves and reach a little corner with seats and a computer, between the two seats is a beautiful plant and around all this are more bookshelves.
“This looks like a disney movie” I mutter to myself
“I know. That’s why I’m here all the time” Michelle admits
“But what are we doing here?” I ask curious to why she insisted that I come with her
“Because I need help with science and you told me that you’re good at it” Michelle explains
“Please, I’m a genius” I correct
“Sure you are. But that’s not all, I heard that you’re good at hacking” She adds
“Really? Who told you that?” I ask suprised
“My consciousness” She answers and sits down on a seat
“I haven’t done it in a while” I admit
“It’s just the school internet” Michelle says “I don’t want to use my mobile data all the time” She laughs
“I can try” I suggest “But not here, I’ll have to be in school”
“All right. Thank you. Now, Science”
“Right” I say and sit down on the seat next to her
I teach her a little about what she needs to know about the topic and then help her do her homework. She isn’t that bad at it to be honest.
“See, not that hard” I say when we finish
“Sure” she jokes “You’re a great teacher”
“Thank you” I smile “You’re a good student” I say and she smiles as well
“Can I ask why you are avoiding your friends?” Michelle asks
“I- uh…Do you know how it feels when everything you do makes your situation worse and you just want to be far away from the people you love because you don’t want to hurt them?” I ask
“Uhh…No”
“Exactly. Me neither but that’s what’s going on. The past few weeks were weird. My life began to get worse. It is threatening the life of my friends, maybe not physically but in a mental way. And there’s the possibility of their lives changing completely. I don’t want that” I tell her
“Why would it change? Why would they be in danger?” She asks
“I can’t tell you that” I answer
“And why is that?” She asks
“I think you know why” I reply, fully knowing that she knows that it would happen to her as well
“Maven. Why do you have friends if you don’t let them help you?” She questions and looks me in my eyes. I don’t have an answer for that
“Listen. I know we only met yesterday but you can trust me. What if you told me and I could help you with your issue with your friends? Maybe I could help you make a decision” She continues and stands up
“It’s not like the government would be after you or you are the new member of the Avengers or the new voice of Spongebob” She says and I open my mouth a little
“You are the new voice of Spongebob?” She asks as she sees my disapproving face
“No, of course not” I answer, looking up at her
