Noel's Point Of View
"Noel?" Luke said on the other end of the phone. "Is it you?"
My heart starts beating even quicker. He doesn't sound happy. He sounds upset, like something hit him so hard, he fell into a deep depression.
Like what I'm feeling now.
I felt tears forming in my eyes. He's there. He's actually there. I hear his voice and it's real.
"Yes," I smiled, even though, he doesn't see me. "It's me."
He chuckled. "I can't believe it's you. Oh my god, I miss you a lot. The guys miss you a lot. Lauren misses you a lot. She sometimes comes to my house and asked if you called. It hurts me to tell her no, but what other choice do I have? I can't lie to her."
"I miss you guys a lot," I said. "I wish i never left."
"Before you left," Luke said. "There was something that I had to tell you."
"And that is?" I asked, wanting to hear what he has to say.
"I love yo-" He was cut off.
I shot up. I was breathing hard and my heart was beating fast. I looked over to the alarm clock. It's only three in the morning. I grabbed my phone from the nightstand and checked the messages and calls.
No calls or messages.
It was a dream. A dream I actually wanted to continue. Luke was about to confess his true feelings for me, that he loves me.
What could Luke possibly love about me? Who would want to love a girl with death on her mind? No one.
I stepped out of my bedroom and quietly walked down the wooden stairs and into the kitchen. I filled a cup with milk and sat at the dining table.
Anna walks into the kitchen.
"Why are you up?" She asked, opening up the refrigerator.
"I could say the same for you," I said. "I can't sleep."
"Same here," Anna said. "You look like you just woke up."
"I did, actually," I said. "I had a nightmare, I guess."
"About what?" Anna asked, sitting across from me at the table.
"Luke," I said. "He called and told me he was going to tell me he loves me, but I woke up and realized that it's a dream."
"He misses you," Anna said.
"I doubt it," I said, getting up from the table.
"What makes you say that?" She asked.
"It's been almost a month, he hasn't called or texted, Anna," I said, walking back upstairs to my room.
I walked into my bathroom and turned on the sink. After splashing some cold water on my face, I looked at my reflection in the mirror. The bags under my blue orbs became visible from the lack of sleep.
I wiped my face with a purple towel and turned the bathroom light off, making my way into my bedroom and crawled into bed, pulling the covers over me. I closed my eyes and slipped into a slumber.
...
"WAKE UP!" Levi yelled as he jumped on my bed. "Noel, it's almost one in the morning, you don't need to be asleep!"
I instantly opened my eyes and shoved Levi off the bed. I gave him a dirty glare and got out of bed.
"Nice Calvin Klein boy shorts," Levi said, looking at my black boy shorts with the white waistband.
I rolled my eyes. "What are you doing here, Levi?" I walked over to my closet and pulled out a black tee and some jeans from my dresser.
"There's nothing to do, so I came here," He said. "Oh, and those brownies your mom made.. gave me a mouth orgasm."
I arched an eyebrow. "Mouth orgasm?"
He shrugged his shoulders. I shook my head and took of my tank top. I slipped on my tee and slipped on my jeans. I slipped on black toms and we headed out.
"Your mom seriously needs to give me the recipe for those brownies," Levi said.
I gave Levi a look of annoyance. We headed towards the mall and decided to just walk around. What am I noticing?
Lots of people looking at me.
Why? I don't know. That's pretty much a question I've asked myself over and over ever since I came back from Australia.
"Why is everyone looking at you?" Levi asked.
"Just ignore it," I said, heading towards the foot court. After ordering pizza and drinks, Levi and I took a seat at table farther away from the other people. "So, I had this dream last night."
Levi looked up from his phone. "About what?"
"Luke," I said. "I called him and he was surprised that I called, he started telling me about Lauren and everything else that's happening in Australia. Levi, he was to say he loves me. But, then I woke up."
"Wow, Noel," Levi said. "Why haven't you texted or called him?"
I shrugged. "To be honest, I have no idea. I just think he's better off without me, I guess."
"Noel, don't think that," Levi said, taking my hand into his. "You both aren't better off without one another. Every time someone mentions his name, you light up. Noel, you're in love with him."
"But, Lan-" I was cut off.
"Noel, Landon is gone," He said. "He isn't coming back. The only thing for you to do it's forget and move on. Be happy. Live life and let loose. It's okay to be happy. Life is too short to be sad."
...
Sorry for the long wait and the short chapter. I just got back from being out of town and I didn't have good wifi connection, so the service was rubbish. But, uh, what's your plans for the summer? I know what mine is.. sleep.
